lets look at the basics in manifold design, there's been decades of test results.
of the basic carb/intake designs available,
generally the edelbrock air gap dual plane design with a properly size matched double pumper holley or correct throttle body injection will average the best combo of torque and horse-power from off idle to about 5500 rpm in most v8 chevy engines.
there will be rather rare exceptions, the smaller oval port big block heads tend to respond earlier in the power band and pull noticeably better with the better single plane intake designs in some cases, showing noticeably better power from about 4700 rpm and up in some cases,
the tunnel ram intakes require matched cam timing , more compression and headers to perform well, but will generally produce increased power if properly tuned with those components from about 4500 rpm and above.
individual runner EFI or stack injection can produce noticeably better torque and peak power than any carb intake when everything is properly matched but like the tunnel ram intakes they respond best to higher compression, cams designed to work well, with the individual stack injection (EFI or mechanical and use of adjustable length runners or stack length. cams with tight LSA and low restriction exhaust with headers, and generally a richer F/A ratio.

the single plane intake pictured below has on numerous tests provided exceptional power curves on big block chevy engines with the better 260cc-315cc port aftermarket oval port heads, when proper cams and port matching and higher compression ratios were used.
