Body off this weekend...

Taking the plunge here. This Saturday I'll have a handful of buddies over and we will pull off the body + remove the engine.

The idea is to prepare body and skate as much as possible for the damper weather here.

For the skate I figure:
Scrape off what looks like stock padding/sound proofing in the front footwells
Shop vacuum
Hit with detergent and brush scrub
Rince with a high pressure spray

POR-15 semi-gloss black everything.

For the body I figure:
Pull doors
Pull windows
Throughly clean with detergent
I thinking of POR-15 light gray under the dash (and anything not covered by carpeting)
POR-15 the front trunk. (I'll be painting body-quality the engine bay)

Is there anything I should do to the seams?
The heater channels... do people sprat POR-15 in there? How?
What about areas where the original paint seems reasonable? Do I sand a bit and epoxy, primer, or :?:

In a nutshell, once I have the three components split... are there things I should think of to weatherproof or other?

The car will feel alot more solid and not so tinny if you put sound deadner in the floors and doors. You probably have heard of Dynamat and how expensive it is, so some people are using Peel and Stick or maybe it's called Peel and Seal, from the hardware stores.

I think this might be what they are referring to ???

Awesome, Indy. I was indeed going to do something like that, but forgot about it.

A local hardware shop should have it... or something similar.

Thanks!

for the seam, you should be able to get some seam sealer locally.
I get mine from carquest.

Thanks for the idea on peel n seal, my sister was looking for something to replace the sound deadening mat on her camaro.

I said that a week ago. You must skip my posts for some reason, what, I have no credibility?

I'm taking in a LOT and do remember your post of course... just trying to synch everything in my mind.

Keep it coming!
