Grumpy I'm having some issues with ammo not firing I don't think its bad primers it has happened on several different loads and different named primers and factory loads too but it sure looks like the firing pin is hitting the primer good but I tore the bolt apart to clean it and want to know what to use for lube on reassembly It is a Savage Axis 30/06 and the gun is about 5 years old and less than 100 rounds through it so if you have any ideas about what might be happening I have another 30/06 but it was lent to a friend for deer season but I'm going to run all the bad ammo through it to see what happens

first clean the bolt interior firing pin spring and firing pin carefully removing all grease
many guys use a light spray of WD 40 , but the stuff below is designed for the application
a good disassembly and cleaning followed by a good soak in moly spray and some gun oil, should do a great deal to free up any stuck parts

I finally took the gun in question to the range and run about 20 rounds of mixed ammo through it and not a misfire I guess the firing pin was the problem I do remember when the gun was new the first time hunting with it I was in my tree for 9 days of monsoon rain and cold as crap the most miserable hunting season I ever hunted
