I have owned this bottle jack for over 35 years. Just recently, the ring that allows the threaded extension to extend, spins and won't allow the jack to extend. (see arrow in photo)

You have to hold it with a screwdriver to keep it from turning. Can this be fixed? Any thoughts? Thanks

I don,t know exactly what your trying to acomplish, but
have you considered spraying the area with brake cleaner,
drying it carefully and using some J&B epoxy,
or maybe tig welding the part you need to stop spinning
but if I had that issue I think ID just spend $40-$70 on a new high lift 20 ton rated bottle jack,
if you get even 20 years out of the new jack its well worth the time and price,
vs screwing with repairs on the old jack
