I found this posted and because Ive done things in a similar manor with good results Im posting it here!

"I have bought 21 cars for various family members over the years using this same procedure. I am the go-to guy in the family

I have only lost 5 times - where I had to walk out and go to another dealer.

I make sure the family member is serious about buying today and I tell them in advance if the dealer gives me any static we walk and they get no vehicle.

I walk in, go directly to the sales manager - tell them I am very busy but I am here to buy a car today, set me up with a salesman that can get it done fast or I will move on to another dealer.

Hit the salesman with what is your best price on the vehicle out the door. I always know the exact vehicle they want - there is no discussions on models options service contracts , etc. All of that is decided BEFORE we leave the house

I flash them a couple of grand cash to show I am serious and tell them if they can't have the entire deal done in 1/2 hour I will leave and go to the next dealer.

They always try to squeeze out the pricing that other dealers have offered but that is never disclosed. Never tell them what payment you are looking for - just the total price of the car

This system works great. I don't waste there time and they don't waste mine with there BS

You have to call there bluff and be prepared to walk at any time !!

There are thousands of dealers to buy from. "

btw many credit unions will give you the info on what the dealer price on the car actually is,what the average price is and other info, in many cases its the "loan value " but not always, do the research before you go to a dealer and don,t let them finance your car, get a local credit union loan and have a pre approved check. ans a list of all options and the vehicle cost, BTW one very old car dealer trick is to ask for your car keys while they negotiate so that they can assess the value of your trade, your unlikely to get the keys back unless you make a deal, the car will be out being assessed until you sign for a new car. so if your smart you ride with the guy accessing your trade in value and get your keys back instantly, don,t let the dealers guys hold them,.
