C3 ‘vette manual overdrive

The 3.70 rear in my 1969 L46 Corvette is quite annoying on the highway. However, the close ratio is a lot of fun at lower speeds.

I was originally thinking about swapping in T5 Borg Warner transmission however I understand they are not very strong. Nonetheless, that remains my current plan as I do not intend to throw a ton of horsepowe or torque at it and do not want to spend a fortune on a Mega buck transmission.

I would be looking for something used to drop it or rebuild.

Any thoughts on this?

Interesting. I had never thought of a GVO. Makes sense. I’d like to keep my close ratio Muncie if possible.

This essentially would be like slapping on an OD that I could toggle on and off.

I’m concerned that it won’t fit under a C3 corvette.
