C4 LT1 questions

first off, let me start by saying this 96 collectors edition is my first personal corvette and im in love. but i have a couple issues i need to sort out on the car so it can give me 100%, first of all, apparently the cooling fan (primary?) only comes on when the air conditioner is running, if i turn off the a/c the car will overheat (woops) and i dont think thats normal.

secondly is there anyone who sells comeplete stock replacement control arms for the front with bushings already installed? the front drivers side (toward the nose) bushing is missing from the a arm in the front there and i was hoping someone sold a quick replace deal so i can align my front end

The cooling fan that comes on with the A/C on Phil Is the Secondary cooling fan from my memory.
Make checks for power right at the cooling fan motors with connector(s) unplugged.
Back track troubleshoot. Perhaps a bad cooling fan motor or relay.

The C4 control arms are no longer available loaded.
Must replace bushings. Or find used.

if you get a SHOP MANUAL for your 1996 corvette, theres a whole section on diagnosing cooling fan issues , and while its a total P.I.T.A. to read and understand you can get bits of useful info doing so!
above youll find a useful diagram and related thread, keep in mind theres three relays on the left side of the radiator shroud, and any single relay or sensor can screw up the fans function.
keep in mind ONE relay is a 5 pin and two are 4 pin relays

BUY AC DELCO OR MOG , REPLACEMENT BALL JOINTS, those JOINTS, will fit and replacing them, following instructions is not terriably difficult in your old A-ARMS
MOST OF THE IMPORT PARTS I SEE ARE TRUELY UNFIT FOR SAFE USE!

the HELMS SHOP MANUAL IS NEAR MANDATORY BUT SHOP CAREFULLY , PRICES VARY FROM $120-to $389 for original new sets, that are virtually identical except for the supplier pricing

The early C4 Corvettes had specific Suspension bushings.
Different durometer hardness. Base . Z52, Z51. I am not sure what they did come the LT1 & LT4 ERA.
You should plan on rebuilding the entire front end of your C4 Corvette Phil.
Better safe than sorry.
My 87 C4 Vert has the Z52 option. Bushings still like new.
Not sure why but they are still.

both the ball joints are moog aftermarket pieces, i guess ill hit up vette brakes and parts for maybe some upgraded bushings for both sides out front... all my spare cash and spare time are wrapped up in projects and customers cars so we gotta wait and see when i have the money and the time.

thanks for the diagram grumpy, im gonna run that down soon and see what the deal is with the cooling fan
