c4 trans conversion

A local guy I met has this trans for sale. It has a fresh rebuild to hold up to 700 HP behind a BBC.
He decided to go to a manual Trans instead. He was asking $1500 for trans. It comes with new torque converter and lock up wiring harness.

this was the first time I have seen a c4 trans and was confused by the lack of a cross member mount.
A little research says that I need to change out the tail shaft. But I think the out put shaft is too short.
Also I have been reading about how the servo is different in the corvette trans.

Just wanted to ask if this would be something I should be buying or walking away from.

Yes ....that c beam is all new to me.

I have been doing more research and it seems that a guy needs to replace the tail housing
with a housing from a 1982 s10 trans. It is a bolt on and has the crossmember mount.

From what I have been gathering, the output shaft will be flush with the replacement housing.

I must have a new driveshaft made anyway, so that would eliminate shortening the old shaft.

The hard part is finding a tail housing from 1982. Sure there are aftermarket pieces...
but they are at a cost of around $300.

Add that to the cost of this trans and we are soon approaching the point of ..."Is it worth the hassle".

I need to take another look at this trans to see what spline count it has. If it's a 27 count I may just have to pass on it.
