cam choice???

"I'm looking for a cam for my 355 SBC. I'm running flat tops, double hump heads, 2 AFBs on an Edelbrock C26 intake. It's in a '39 Ford two door sedan and not a daily driver. I was considering something in the 244 @50 and .500 lift area. I understand the 327-365/375 cams were rated at 244/254. I'm also told that Chevy rated their cams counting the ramp(Chevy degrees), which made the cam specs sound more radical than they really were. This is a four speed car with 410s so I don't mind a choppy idle and the other characteristics that go with these cams. I've had them before and enjoyed them. What do you think? Thanks in advance,"

If your wanting to go old school hot rod with a noticeable lope and rumble and make good hp,Ive had very good results with this solid flat tapped cam in similar builds

if you want a bit less lope and better drive-ability and a hydraulic cam... personally Id go with the second or slightly milder cam, its a better choice on a street driven car

any time you install a cam with over .470 lift or more than about 220 degrees duration at .050 lift you need to verify valve train and piston to valve clearances and rocker geometry so you might need better springs and some machine work, ID also point out that using 1.6:1 ratio roller rockers with that cam and springs that allow at least a .575 lift is a good idea.
