hey guys Im about to buy cam and exhaust for my bone stock 04 c5 i drive the car everyday and the car has just under 60xxx miles I wanna know whats the biggest cam I should go with before I start running in to some problems thanks

well logic would dictate that by this time the larger cam manufacturers tech guys and customers have made hundreds of installs and have gotten back hundreds of cases of feed back from the customers on the results of those changes and a strong pattern has emerged by now, so one logical course of action might be to call 4-5 minimum,
write a list of all factors that will influence the cam selection choice, CALL AT LEAST 6-9 DIFFERENT CAM MANUFACTURERS, 7-9 WILL BE EVEN BETTER!,
DON,T LIE tell them EXACTLY what you expect once the cams installed and what you have currently ,installed, if it differs from stock.
and that the cam must work with NOW, NOT what you intend to install later.
DO NOT DISCUSS IN ANY WAY WHAT ANY OTHER MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED,
OR THAT YOU'VE EVEN TALKED TO ANY OTHER MANUFACTURER
know your car weight, tire diam.transmission type etc., do you need to pass emission testing? are you racing the car or is it daily transportation, etc would sure help??
selecting a cam without knowing those factors is rather like marrying a girl based on the color of her hair brush, you might make a good match but the odds say your dreaming.
the cam companys should know the engines physical clearance and rpm limitations, along with what the stock transmission and exhaust and gearing will tolerate well.
AVERAGE the RESULTS FROM EACH manufacturers suggestion,as to lift, duration and LCA and buy the cam thats the closest match to that average, this will also allow you to instantly spot it if you get some moron in tech support at one help desk, , because if all the other choices tend to fall in lets say the 215-220 duration range and 112-114 LSA and .500 lift-.520 lift and some un-informed jerk suggests a 245 duration at 106 LSA and .600 lift it will stick out like a streaker in church, when compared to the rest of the suggestions
