Can you plan for quench

iaalI am going to start using the Term ACTUAL INSTALLED TORQUE AND HORSEPOWER .
Its what you actually drive. Feel. Performance had. Races Won with.
Right now with money tight for all its hard to pass up a Big Block.
Iron factory heads used. Some factory heads are superior to others.

Small blocks love lower differential gears.
Big Blocks Love to pull Taller gears.

You still have 2.73 gears John in yout Chevelle.
3.55- 3.90 gearset really wake it up.
Will Scoot off the line Fast on the street.
Faster yet at the track.

Use the Keith Black Compression Ratio Static & Dynamic compression ratio calculator John.
Its accurate as you can get without actual engine dyno testing.

Look for 91 octane max dynamic compression ratio for you.

93 octane ='s 8.0 :1 max

lol they are dished love me isky!!!!! but need more dish will hit the parts books some more
If your engine machinist is handy and has a piston vice he can dish further, add more CC Volume.

Yeah its best to keep searching for pistons yet.

Look at Kieth Black Hperuentic piston Listings John,
They have a forged line of pistons too.

no pistons ordered yet just looks like I will need a pretty hefty dish around 18cc to make it pump happy with 9.8:1 static compression for use with my cam.

15 CC Dish is pretty commen for Domestic V8 engines.
Bore size ?
Crankshaft stroke ?
Compression height - Pin setting you want ?
I will check tonight for off the shelf pistons too.

383 SBC . 350ci based block.
3.75 crank stroke.
5.7 Rod
18 CC Dish D-cup.
1/16" - 1/16" - 3/16" ring pack.

They dont show 18cc dish with 6.0 " rod & 3.75 crank stroke for 383 sbc John.
Likely has to be custom made.

I would use 5.7" long rod myself.
Keep it simple.
Keep Costs down.
Very difference in HP & torque in sbc 5.7 to 6.0 inch.
10 hp max if lucky.
Never feel it from drivers seat.

3.875 stroke scat or callies compstar 4340 crank
6.0 rod toss up between callies compstar or scat stroker clearance rods really wanna keep my cam avoid small base circle
Thinking 0 deck .039 gasket either way aiming .039-.041 quench depending on forged piston material. Been using 4.166 for gasket bore.
Have to figure out pistons probe has -15.2cc wiseco is out unless I want to run a turbo dish which is -32cc
Mahle has a -18 reverse dome on a 1.062 compression height seeming like the best option right now.

The Big Piston Manufacturers that maked Forged Pistons Automatic assume you will run at least 11.0 :1 -14.0 :1 static compression typical John and use race gas.
They don't usually cater to street pump gas guys.

Keith Black 390 Alloy Hypers with 18 cc dish priced rigt at $377 Summit Racing.

Your heading for 412-421 ci engine build with 3.875 stroke crank.
You could.
AFR195 MAY NOT BE ENOUGH.
LIMIT IS AVAILABLE AFFORDABLE BIG TUBE HEADERS THAT BOLT RIGHT IN.
YOU AND ME CAN AFFORD AT $400-500.

GETS TO BE TOO MUCH $$$$.
COULD HAVE A BIG BLOCK.454 CHEVY.
PONTIAC 455.
OLDS 403-425-455.

Dynatech 1 3/4. 1 7/8 into 3 inch but you are right looks like 383 is gonna make more sense and be close to a 800 cheaper not looking to pay out $760 for pistons to have a 396sbc I have to check for othe piston options. Yes I am at my heads limits also a 200cc head would be better. Still in the pen and paper stage.

Dynatech is where the chevelle guys have been going instead of super comp they fit better and perform just as well thinking 3" elecrtic cut outs

Hope July is better.
