I saw one similar to that at a car show a few years back and it was an engineering marvel I must have looked at that thing for 2 hours while talking to the owner and asking questions

I bet it sounds strange for a VW when you see go by!

the more I think about that VW, bbc build the more Im rather impressed with what it took to build,
and the more Im convinced the finished car would be fun, to drive , but truthfully Id be rather reluctant to build a clone, .. WHY?
well frankly it would be fast, light weight and yes potentially could be made to handle well, but it LOOKS LIKE a VW bug...
and no matter how fast it might be....
I don,t see myself driving in a VW BUG,
yeah I want to be proud of the finished project and
if Id put that much cash, time and effort into a car build.....

I would rather build a AC COBRA clone even if it was marginally slower ,
or ideally some other sports, or race car clone, like a chaparral clone in my opinion would be ideal.
and yeah, I know it would attract police cars like a half dozen cute 20 year old , nude girls serving free coffee at a donut shop,
remember I drove a burgundy 1968 corvette with crower stack injection for a few years,
and frequently had an unwanted following,
simply waiting for me to speed as the stack injection through the corvettes hood seemed to attract police escorts.

yeah, Id rather have something I built both perform reasonably well, and look impressive even if it was marginally slower, in acceleration from 0-60mph
