Catalina 68 shocks

Hello everybody.
Back from the holidays!
Took my 68 cat for 1500 miles of cruising.
And except that the airco clutch broke( on the warmest day of the year!) all went sublime.

The car needs new suspension bushes and has a terrible tremble when braking .( drums? )
To cut things short. What shocks would you suggest to improve the ride ( bit less boat...)

Premium gas charged shock absorber from Monroe.
Or smaller budget Gabriel shocks.

Not a race car so exotic shocks not warrented.

Check the front control arms and bushings.
Ball joints.
Inner and outer tie rods.
Idler arm.
Pitnam arm.
Steering box.
Steering rag joint.
Steering column and shaft bearings.

Check the upper and lower rear control arm bushings.
Lower arm bushing warn will cause instability also.

Check the Motor mounts and trans mount also.

Remove the wheels and check all brakes.

Should take 1 hour to make all checks.
Write it down on paper what's needed.

Spend the extra for a Heavy Duty Fan clutch.
Usually $40- 50 more than standard fan clutch.
Extra cost buys the 100 % reliable for real hot days driving.

Hot today also in Illinois on my Farm.
Super humid.

Hey wait a minute! All the while I’ve been talking about my ‘68 Catalina and nobody said a thing about another member having one and Brian not saying anything! What’s up with that?

LOL! I have original motor 2 bbl, 400 Cu in. TH400 from a ‘68 Buick Skylark 400 GS Stage 1. Updated to a 8.75” rear with 3.73 gears. Convertible White top, Solar Red with all Red interior.
56,000 miles, 4th owner. Documents from PHS.
I don’t have any good pictures just yet. I plan on posting some new pics in a week or so. Perhaps a lousy one will do for now.

I have a weight gauge on my lift that is accurate to within 17.4 lbs at 5,000 lbs. At 10,000 lbs it’s + - 0.0047 (lbs)?
Mohawk pays for the first County Weights & Measures Certificate or seal if you are using this for business purposes. I wasn’t home when the man came from the W&M dept, I would have liked to know how he figured the accuracy.

They use certified weights we have to do it to all our scales here. Just weights put on the scale that with in a certain spec. Our weight here have to be certified also yearly.

Is that lower front valance which includes the front turn signals made of chrome? I haven’t seen one ever.
