IVE been down this road with several friends,

DO YOUR RESEARCH< YOUR ASS WILL BE UNDER A CAR AND IF IT FAILS, AND FALLS ON YOU, THE LOW PRICE WON<T MATTER, save $1200 on the lift and then spend $30K in the hospital later as a result is not smart!
IF YOU CAN,T GET PARTS IN TWO YEARS, ITS GOING TO BE USELESS, LOOK FOR A CERTIFIED LIFT WITH A LOCAL DEALER
we are all limited by budget concerns but a cheap lift is far more likely to fail or have durability issues , so do some IN DEPTH research before spending cash

a great deal price wise, YES but more than likely on IMPORT JUNK, thats NOT CERTIFIED, notice no mention of being a certified tested lift or long term local support or local instal available or an extended maintenance policy available, most 2 post lifts REQUIRE a 8" thick slab of reinforced concrete, on the base most common garage floors are 4" or less thick
I really don,t want too "RAIN ON YOUR PARADE"
but even MORE I don,t want you to fail to do the research BEFORE you buy a lift with the result that you get seriously injured when it fails and having seen several lifts that were "BARGAIN PRICED DEALS OF A LIFE-TIME" fail to do much more than cause cash to change hands and the purchaser feel they got totally screwed in the process or have the lift fail shortly after it was installed I just say DO THE RESEARCH CAREFULLY BEFORE THE PURCHASE, and CONTACT THE LOCAL BBB office and check the internet before purchasing and for darn sure use a credit card that can dispute charges, if what you get (IF ANYTHING) does not match the description

look very carefully at these pictures comparing two fairly well known lifts
which would you buy?
and there are FAR WORSE LIFTS... YOU NEED TO DO RESEARCH
some of the cheap imports make both these lifts look MASSIVE in comparison, when the steel thickness is compared, and thats not taking into account the quality of the steel, you can bet your butt that the cheap import lifts you see on sale at 1/2 the price of the better brand name lifts did not select or use the best steel , or experienced welders either
THE CERTIFICATION STICKER IS MANDATORY ON A DECENT LIFT
http://www.autolift.org/
any lift worth having will have this sticker, its NOT just a "STICKER" its a certification that the lift design HAS BEEN TESTED and will function under its rated load plus about 30%-50%, and that it meets some minimum safety feature requirements.
A certification for any product serves several purposes. The one that no one sees is consistency of manufacture. That's a big one and the one that should concern you with a product like a lift.
