A couple of you may remember , from DC about 2 years ago I mentioned I was buying into an old and established plating shop. It's been agonizingly rough to complete the transaction during this time. The old gentleman that sold me the business had struck demands that the business continued buy his tried and true established order and quality with me serving a 6 month apprenticeship that coincided with me being ill most of the time. He neglected to inform me of the communications between him and DEPA with L&I right behind. After settlement and before our first day of operations we were served with S&D orders and had to spend a fortune on clean up and change disposal contractors. All this made me search for a partner and last November my broker brought my relief.
We are now approaching the point of satisfying all the contracted work and will start bringing in new work this September. Perfect Plating LLC is plating of the highest show quality and nothing ever leaves the premisses less than perfect. We cannot offer economy "Flash" chroming like many shops do. We have a shipping on us return policy if you are dissatisfied with any finish. Currently we are working on bringing our shop time down to 2 weeks from 3 to 5 weeks under previous management. Metal commodities have been down as of late and we teamed up with several other fabrication and customization companies to form a co-op for buying large quantities of plating metals including 22 k yellow gold for future cost containment.

To compare our plating to any other shop we will plate 1 item free of charge, you pay shipping both ways. Size is limited to any item that can fit into a 22 oz beverage container or smaller certain exceptions can apply, ask for details. We will have booths set up at Hershey, PA this fall and Sema 2016 for our patent pending Black Platnum finish. Unlike shops that offer Black Chrome that appears more like "Charcoal" color, our process appears as a true Black in any lighting condition.

Plating!!! Just the man I need to talk to! Does your shop have the capability to do these headers/sidepipes? Good luck with the new venture!

yeah! if you can do that header plating and we can get before & after pictures it may help , increase business trafffic, that would be rather interesting to see!
(btw CHROME BUMPERS, Im still working on that software glitch)

Easily! Our policy with headers and pipes - especially when used, we ceramic coat the inside so the exterior never discolors with the typical blue/brown rainbow. We used to send parts out to Jet Hot but there was some quality control problems so we are in the process of adding on our own coating and baking room. The electricician was working late last night running new lines. The system should be delivered on Thursday and the installers on Monday.
Right now we are working on a rather large order for Brothers and 2 people are on vacation this coming week. If you can hold out for 3 weeks I can get it done. If you take care of shipping both ways I'll consider this a promo job because I know you'll tell everybody we did it.

Note:

Without erasing what I just said, I must ad that nothing is absolute until my partner comes back and agrees with any promotions.

I still have the Spare back bumper for 1970-1/2 TA & The original on my car yet.
You told me to wait Richard on DC.
So I have.
Space Coast in Florida my other Top Pick.

Oh yes, you're right and I totally forgot, sorry Brian! does it need any work? That would speed things up.

I believe its a straight core bumper I have.
It came from California and spent its entire life there since 1970.
Few minor blems and a couple of small dings. I don't think its a nightmare to smooth out right and Triple Chrome plate to Show Quality.

Didn't want the China repop so I searched and found an original 1970-73 Firebird Trans Am rear bumper.

We have one from a '73 SD the customer never returns our calls. It's not fully paid, if nothing by September 15th I'll need to follow the contract.
Btw Brian, we don't coat anything less then triple coats (excluding bolts, and certain hardware that can chip under stress) WITH 2 coats of copper and USA refined Nickel!

The Rear Bumper mounting Brackets are special.
Designed for the New Mandated 5 mph rear crash hit in 1973.
The Rear bumper hangs out about 1 inch further out than the 1970-72 cars did.
Let me know Richard.

I'm still learning how to be a perfect metal bumper. I, myself, am not doing any show quality hammer-work yet (I'm only there maybe a couple of days per week anyhow, usually after everybody else goes home). We only have one guy right now doing such work and that creates a back-log. We are searching for someone with a ton of experience interviewing now.

If you send it now I can't promise less then 5 weeks and I still have to check with the shop manager when he comes back from vacation next week. He doesn't back down from me when I try to push ahead too many favors.

Not sure what it would cost to rechrome the Spare 1970-73 Firebird Trans Am Rear Bumper I have .

Space Coast Looks great but ship it 1st to them and they will get back to you with an Estimation $.
I think that means $1,000- 5,000.

Since I know You better Richard...I can Wait.
Just a little guy here too.

Chat later Richard.
Going outside for a while.
Nice Day out here.

BR

$5,000 on the high end - that's insane! I know you, you could be the world's best salesman, or the worst if dissatisfied! You'll be taken care of as the last big parts promo this year, you just have to be patient.

Note: I edited my reply to "Not A TA." At the bottom. I'm not the definitive word there . . .yet.

We will talk.
Job is yours.

I was thinking about my exhaust today and figured I'd check back on this thread because apparently it got to the second page of new posts and I hadn't seen it pop back up.

It would be awesome if you could do my side pipes and headers as a promo! They are NOS and have the original coating on them. I was adamant about maintaining the finish on my old chrome ones and they still look dazzling after all the use with no pitting, bluing, etc. If they flowed well I'd put them back on, but they just aren't up to it and limit the engine so I want to run the new ones.

I would indeed be sure to tell people where they were done, plus much more! I've been a businessman all my life so I'm more than well aware of the need for a return on investment for any advertising and promotional projects. I don't know how much you really looked at my project thread but the thread is designed to not only tell the story, provide tips & tech but also promote name recognition and the products of Baer Brakes, Redline Fluids, MSD Ignition, Yokohama Tires, Rushforth Wheels, Hot Wheels, and Flowmaster Exhaust who all provided products for the contest I won. I started by writing this and posting it on several big forums. http://www.pro-touring.com/threads/61944-I-won-!-I-won-!!-I-won-!!! Which I then followed by starting a project thread on those forums plus several others. The company that ran the contest did a horrible job of promoting the companies after each company agreed to give as much as 5-6 thousand dollars worth of product. So I took it upon myself to promote those companies as much as I could and get them the advertising they deserved. You'll notice in the pics of my shop the only banners in the background are those of companies I've received product from. When any of the banners start getting crappy looking I get online and order a new banner (out of my pocket) on the companies website without a word to them. I try to do more than I would expect in return as a business owner.

The build thread posted here is also posted on several very large forums as well as some smaller ones. The thread hit counts on the bigger forums is currently in the 30,000-40,000 range on most of them. I expect well over 500,000 hits total before the project thread is completed. That's a lot of views!

When the car is finished I'll get back in touch with the promo department of all the companies who supplied product and/or services and offer to make the car available for photo shoots etc. I'll be running large sponsor company logo stickers (which I will have made at my expense) on the car for at least a year. I'll also offer to do any kind of on site promotions while I'm out at tracks or other venues with the car handing out stickers, pamphlets, or whatever. I would not be surprised at all if one of the companies wants to have the car in a SEMA booth and the OUSCI guys have been trying to entice me anyway to put on 200 TW tires and bring the car to their events so they can get me out to the finals at SEMA. The car's photographic and has "The Look" which is why it was in PHR and Hot Rod in the past. It certainly wasn't because of my driving!

Let me know if I can provide any info your partner might be interested in to make a decision. And THANKS! for even considering chroming them as a promotional tool.

What Do I Get Richard ? !

I promised I would always look after you Brian. I just have to think of my partner and keep checking with him about my ideas. I've teamed up with one or more people on many businesses since I was nearly 20 yo. Either someone needed money, had to move or wanted to pull their share of the profits and move to the next idea. Never was a time of personal conflict or mismanagement because we all are playing on level ground, equals financially, in education and ethics. We always managed to stay friends and got along for many reasons, one of which is I constantly put myself in the other guys shoes and plot solutions to their possible rebuttals, much like chess games. I'm always the generous partner and when I get a hint of tension I quickly pay of of my own pocket - you would be surprised even that can make partners feel awkward, like the other guy is cheap or worse.
I just mention these things so you have a clear picture of how patients is sometimes needed to work "Goodwill" into the schedule. The guys will fill a light basket of similar items 1 or 2 at a time so someone gets in without pushing out the time.
