Connecting a starter switch

Where exactly do you connect the leads for a starter switch on a 71 sbc? I need to reinstall the distributor and since the placement markings are lost (cleaning accident) I need to start over and bump the motor over to TDC. Is there any connection point under the hood or do I have to get under and connect to one of the starter posts?
Thanks

I'm guessing since a path isn't drawn, it's one wire of the starter button to the "S" terminal and the other to the positive terminal of the battery or "B"
I was hoping there was some connection point/s in an easier location under the hood. It's hard to get under or reach down from the top wth long tube headers.mik

Find the 10-12 guage wire at the TH400 Park - Neutral Safety Switch. Its your S -wire To the Delco 10MT Starrer motor.
If A Muncie 4-speed Connect to the Cllutch pedal Neutral Safety Switch .Purple 10-12 Gauge wire again.
I haven't had to turn a V8 engine over by hand in a vehicle for 20 years setting valves. I use a starter bump switch setting valves.
Big Semi Truck Diesels I bar over by hand. If the Big diesel engine starts with you in there working your hands are gone or your dead instant.

Great! Just did it and bump switch worked fine. Last time I bumped a motor around it was and old 71 390 Ford pickup had a terminals on the inner fender and used a screwdriver - wish it was that easy on th vette but it's done now, thank you Brian

I guess the old Ford had a starter solenoid similar to the one I have on the bench in the garage, that I'll probably install at some stage to deal with the intermittent clunk not start issue..

Installing s Ford Starter Relay tends to help Jimmy.
Watch Ebay near You in Europe .
I have seen lots of NOS GM parts showing up in Germany .
GM 10 MT Starters .

Lots coming out if China.
Hard to avoid it.
NOS parts still best.
Otherwise its premium racing parts and they still can have issues .
