Im going to check out a hard to find 1996 C4 with a manual trans it runs and drives ok, but with close to 130k miles, I have some concerns.

Owner told me it will need a new clutch and water pump soon - $1,500 from my internet research.

I hear stories about water pumps and opti ignitions causing big problems? any experience. I appreciate the help!

youll spend less than a full weekend or a long day and under $600-$800 replacing all three parts, if you shop carefully and have some experience and general mechanic tools

a decent replacement clutch for a c4 LT1 corvette
takes most experienced guys a few hours (3-5) if you have decent jack stands or a LIFT and need NOT cost you an arm and leg

OPTI CRAP IGNTION PARTS ARE OK are available, and if done at the same time as the water pump, 5-6 hours easily handles this

you can even replace the fuel pump and still be well under $1000

ANY time you buy a used corvette or muscle car, don,t forget to carefully check the brakes, pads rotors and calipers and change the brake fluid and anti-freeze and oil and trans fluid on a used corvette, you probably don,t know or can verify service records but by 70K-100K miles the clutch and brakes may and most likely were, or have been replaced at least once on most cars
IF YOU NEED CORVETTE PARTS,
SOME ARE SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER ,
AND EASIER TO LOCATE USED
