Greetings All:
Due to current medical problems, I’m limited to what I can do.
Question: Called local Engine shop and to “Freshen Up”
The kids .40 over 350, new gaskets, seals, make sure everything in good working order. They said $1500
Dollars & two weeks to do. Granted if parts needed would be
Extra. For you folks familiar with service like this, does
This seem like a fair price?? Would really appreciate your
Input and opinions. Thanks in advance, appreciate your help.
Regards: Willow

machine shops are notorious for getting any engine rebuild in, and finding you "NEED"
a few things done they did not expect you too need in the initial estimate,
and many quote a basic rebuild , but some components,
or machine work are extras, that are always unexpected problems before they proceed,
for a daily driver engine replacement, where the goal is simply transportation.
your almost always money ahead buying a new crate engine in my opinion
I rebuild a good many engines but for similar application,
I go with a crate engine many times, its faster, easier and cheaper
you have a hard time refurbishing an existing SBC engine,
doing the machine work, properly, carefully selecting ,purchasing, clearancing the parts ,
and purchasing components for the price of a new crate 350.
