There is a new dexos certification out that supersedes the other dexos certs called "dexos®R"
The only weights I see are on the market are 0W40 and 5W50.

• Dexos R was developed to provide customers an optional premium engine oil that further
withstands the rigors of high speed, high load conditions which occur during towing, or
performance driving.

➢ Dexos R can be used in place of dexos 2 in all GM high-performance gasoline engines.
➢ Corvette owners will be instructed to use dexos R licensed engine oils.
➢ Diesel engines will continue to use dexos 2 or dexosD licensed oils, check vehicle
owner’s manual for recommendation.
• Can it be used in place of dexos D?
➢ No, oils meeting this specification are not suitable for diesel applications
• Which GM engines will be factory filled with this?
➢ Factory fill for current model Corvette and Camaro

➢ Yes, core formulation is approved for both. Blenders will still need to submit application
for licensing to each specification.

• M111FE – Why is this included as oils in this specification will be primarily based around ASTM
tests instead of ACEA tests? Oils may not carry an ACEA claim profile.
➢ Required for 0W-40 for Corvette
• OM646LA – This is a diesel wear test. Can this be replaced with the GM bench wear test and/or
other proprietary tests for wear protection?
➢ Wear mitigation is critical and absent a robust wear test this requirement will remain in
the specification until a suitable replacement can be found.
