Diesel Power

wow! that was surely a very expensive display of an engine failure, I hope no one was injured

back in the late 1970s one of the guys I hang out with tried shifting a 283 with a solid lifter cam,
at about 8700 rpm, he missed a shift to third, and the flywheel exploded and took out the windshield and floor ,of his 1957 two door chevy,
luckily he suffered nothing worse physically than a near heart attack,
trying to stop the car.
he later inspected the engine and said...

." well, its not a total loss.... I think theres a couple water pump and oil pan bolts that can be salvaged"

we all started laughing at that for some reason... I later help build him a 427 big block
that he drove for decades in a 1970 nova
