I occasionally see good what looks like good deals on things like surplus military camo water resistant jackets back packs etc.,
a jackets got to be ordered in a size thats your size or a bit larger of course so knowing what your referring too helps a great deal

like this link below but I don,t have a clue what the size chart is or how it relates to my size
can you provide some insight here?

just as a rough guide I,m 6 ft 3" tall 250 lbs
take a size 19 shirt
40 waist
31 inseam
51" chest around near armpits,
and thats without a shirt/sweater etc.
not looking for any thing but conversion info
on how to make heads & tails out of the European size charts which are totally unfamiliar

the sliding bar from zero-50 and GERMAN SIZE 16 or GERMAN SIZE 19 has me a bit confused

From what I can tell with the Parka, the GR19 is as close as you are going to get - that's the biggest size they have. At 6 foot 3, you are at tick over 190 cm tall... BUT your chest, at 51 inches, is significantly over the 43 inch chest of the GR19. It looks like it'll be too narrow for you.

As for conversions - I have NEVER seen these sizes - it looks like a specific German army-thing. Rest of Europe (civilian) doesn't use this. This is what we use here for coats and parkas - chest size is the only thing measured:

You'd be a 64. And yes, likely the sleeves would be too long.

For shirts, e.g. it's neck size only

FWIW, all and I mean ALL my clothing here is tweaked be a seamstress. Sizes here are hell - it's like everything requires adjusting.

yeah! the VIKINGS and GERMANS were always depicted by the GREEKS AND ROMANS as HUGE muscle bound BARBARIANS
CHECKING the surviving armor and its obvious a 6 ft 180 lb man was well above average, back 1500 or so years, in the roman era.
now theres plenty of detailed accounts of 6ft plus 230 lb muscle packed warriors back then but they were not average or all that common

but you can see where the semi myth came from
