Dragboss Thursday Night Live Chat With Darin Morgan Who Cares About Flow Numbers

Live Chat with Darin Morgan will be Ready to view later Full length later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Did everyone have a chance to watch the video?
It's a long one and alot of ground is covered.
Much is for all out Drag Racing Unlimited Normal Normal Aspirated and they do cover Power adders also.
Working g with Extreme high power band 10,000- 11,000 rpm but we can apply to Street Pump Gas Engines 1500-6500 Rpms most often built here in the past.
Cylinder Head and Intake Porting Full Race and applied to a Street engine does work what I did to m my 1976 455 based engine.
Its arguable what is Full Race Porting but I call it 50-60 cfm more flow potential delivered into the engine used 100% and try and get it exhausted 100% the cylinders on blow down when the exhaust valve opens.
Some Factory heads like Pontiac V8 (I went 60 cfm more than stock intake side), its possible to port to +100 cfm more.
Big Block Chevy is a Fantastic Candidate too.
Small Block Chevy Most often best to start with an Aftermarket Aluminum or cast iron head so you have latest designs to port with.

I found it interesting intake plenum volume can not be calculated any exact.
Looks to be trial and error testing.

Even still today they analyze wet flow in a running engine by the Burn carbon witness patterns left on the pistons dome tops.
My old 1970 RAIV heads 614s gave me 95% complete burn patterns on Forged Flatop TRW pistons used with.
Chamber all wrong by todays designed standards but pistons tell all.

Its interesting what Darin Morgan found about different camshaft LCA needed for all different cylinder head designs.
Wedge .
Canted Valves.
Hemi.
Twisted Wedge style chambers.

I have used Davud Vizzard's LCA Calculator tried it out.
Pretty neat his Formula.

They talk about a Pontiac V8 camshaft needing +10 more degrees exhaust duration.
Its actually not True any.
It's the Restrictive exhaust system in place that is the problem.
No exhaust system used is best.
Loud and let it breathe free.

I use a single pattern Isky Cam.
It makes tons of power torque and Hp on pump gas.
