Ducting an air box

Morning All,

My KG is intended to be a daily driver. The engine however (despite my sound insulation) makes quite a racket.

I am told that at CSP Air Box ($800!!!) will hush things up significantly as most of the noise if from air rushing in the carbs. (Really????)

The problem is the CSP Air Box was designed for beetles and the air box would interfere with the deck lid.

Soooo, I am thinking of

1. moving the box itself down in front of the pulley

2. swapping the carb bonnets from side

3. scratch-building some fiberglass tubing between the bonnets and box. Or figure out ducting of some kind.

Any ideas on ducting? I'll order additional rubber seals (4 total) to make t easier. I'm thinking creating a chicken wire/papier-macher tube and and wrapping some fiber glass around it. The some filler, sanding and semi gloss black paint.

ID think a trip to a local salvage yard or plumbing supply could get you access to something that could be easily modified to make the duct routing issue easy

Thanks for the feedback gents! We clearly have options and it is doable.

My concern here is noise control. There must be a way to line with sound proofing.

I'll have to think about this one.
