I was looking at these and wanted to see if anybody has worked with these before? Do you have to skim coat the panels before painting? How well does the front ends fit (I noticed they don't sell the front ends). I know with Corvettes you can buy all the correct nuts, bolts and washers is there a source like that for Camaros and Chevelles? Do I have to find a junkyard pile to get a VIN to call it (what ever - ie: a 1970 Chevelle Convert?

I am a little confused by your questions Rich.
For a chosen restoration project your asking about the correct assembly line installed bolts, J nuts, & black grey phoshate coated fasteners ?
Plenty of restoration companies around to help.
Nothing matches NOS GM or restored original fasteners.
Early musclecar era fasteners take some searching.
Swap meets. Fleabay can be usefull.
Dedicated Chevelle, Camaro, Corvette, Pontiac, Oldsmobile forums helpfull I have found looking for obscure & questions answered.
Oldsmobile facts & data took some searching in last year for my 425 build.

if you were to decide you want to build a (FOR EXAMPLE
) 1969 camaro
every part you need is readily available,
all sheet metal, glass and interior and suspension is available,
if you have deep pockets,
you will more than likely have $40-$60k in the car by the time your done if you use all new reproduction parts ,but all the parts exist
and you can even get a full frame independent suspension with 4 wheel disc brakes, and a killer aluminum big block if you wanted too.

Brian,

It's not the Hardware that satisfies the judges when I say "correct," I had tough time on my last restoration as I could not find a source for the right nuts and bolts and I had to guess what to use on the fenders, seats, brackets, dash - when to use lock-nuts or washers, tapping every hole to get the correct sizes - you name it. It got down to what ever worked and over 100 hours at Fastenal (keep in mind that I didn't have the old hardware, no available AIM or detailed photos or anything else to go by). At least with Corvettes if I needed every nut bolt and screw for the interior, under the hood, under the car, I can get it easily with everything labeled, I learned the hard way on the last project.

If you want a corvette project car, my sons 1992 corvette is for sale and would be a decent start point for some one wanting to get into a C4 corvette restoration project fairly cheaply, while needs an interior and some other minor body work, its drive-able ,and its not been in any accidents, , it just in need of tires, some interior like door panels seats and carpet, and loving care from some guy that knows corvettes with the time and cash to get it sorted out!
My son will sell it very reasonable , its been basically taking up room, untouched sitting in my shop for several years.
mostly because of my sons medical and financial issues.
Ive started it up every month, to keep the engine and transmission fu8nctioning, but because he never has any cash, for maintenance,or desire to drive the car, or a desire to do work on it , its remained basically stock, and the interiors in need of a rebuild as the door panels, seats and rugs need replacing, not all the gauges work, but again as a project car Im sure its a decent starting point , Ive heard him ask $3500 and at that price fixing its a decent project

No offence intended to those who have C4s, but I don't like them (I would say "at all" but I do like the flip front end). There is a farmer near me that collects any C4 that runs and is not hit. the max he will pay is $3000 and states that more than 50% ran him less then $2000. last week he told me he just bought number 135. He has been working on getting into a Corvette publication somehow.

if he can store them indoors and keep them in decent condition,in 20 years he should be filthy rich selling parts

Right now there is a huge tent with flap type covers for the entry way. I think it's 80 ft. X 250 ft. plus a pole barn that was an indoor ridding arena. He won't let me take pictures for fear that a highly read car publication would only want a virgin story and exclusive photos. He also has the largest Ampicar collection in the world. His business partner was buying up C3s in the mid 80s. He was paying up to $5000 for anything not hit and running. For some reason he quit collecting by around 1989 he bought my Orange 1977 for $5K in '88.
