Too loud! Just at idle the sound is just about what an open exhaust would sound like and I’m not happy. I say it sucks because I have a lot of money in this system and all I wanted was what Walker claimed in their ads and catalogs, “Quite at cruise and performance sound at WOT.”
Now I either change something or get rid of it.
 
pictures would be great?
obviously you can make helpful changes but without pictures, and ideally accurate measurements, its difficult to make reasonable suggestions
 
You have me puzzled what could be different but I’ll play. Give me a n hour or so, I’ll get it up on my lift.
 
The people at the muffler shop must have seen an old man coming and figured you were half deaf.
And not too smart with money. That's why they took you for double $$$.

I told you 5 years ago to Buy Walker Super Dynomax mufflers.
True Quiet

You Bought Copycat Flowmaster 2-chamber Drag Street Race Mufflers so everyone can hear you from 5 miles away at 100-160mph Street Racing.
 
They put diesel style exhaust band clamps on.
Take those off and install Walker Super Dynomax long case.

Be a Fool to get rid of the 1968 Catalina 400 Convertible.
Make the simple repairs
Ready to drive again
 
Power top switch probably.
GM Didnt use power accessories Relays any till the 2000s

Frame is Heavy Duty like my 63 Gp.
Has the Heavy Duty 1-piece driveshaft too the 68 Catalina.

Needs a Pontiac V8 swapped in.
Toyota I would swap in a Poncho or Olds 425 just for the hell of it Fun.

Working on others cars besides Toys wears you out.
Getting a taste of what I went through for decades.
Work on People's junk all week long.
Come home drained.
Want to work on my own too.
Drained, broke, ect.
 
The rear may look funny, it’s because I removed the valance so I could straighten out the bumps and bruises. I didn’t want to pipes to be obvious but the shop went a bit further.

How in hell did I come up with these mufflers then? I could swear it was recommended to get the Dynomax VT. Wish I kept the box and what it said. I should try to find those old posts.

Ok.
Workmanship looks good on the exhaust custom bends.
 
There is not a single Performance Quiet muffler made by anyone else.
Just the Original Walker Super Dynomax Mufflers.
Quiet as you walk away 10 feet you can not hear the engine running at idle.
