Electric Fuel Pump, Which Wire For 12 Volt Source?

I am installing an electric fuel pump on a 1966 Buick Wildcat and would like to know what is the safest/best wire to get a 12v keyed ignition source?
As an alternative I am thinking about installing a toggle switch for my electric fuel pump keyed 12v for a poor mans anti-theft device.

Thanks,
Duly

the hidden toggle switch that doubles as a theft security device would be the route Id suggest
having a wide assortment of different multi meter test leads available is a huge benefit while testing
the clip test leads that test thru a wires insulation without much damage are a big help

having a set of needle bed test clips to check through insulation helps at times

Use a fuse tape to get your power from, that way the pump will be fused. Use a fuse position that is keyed and your all set.

Consider using a relay. Let the high current side of the relay (pump) get power from the battery but trigger the relay from one of many places:
- The ACC pin of the fuse panel
- Early GM adds power to the wipers at key-on
You can trigger the relay from either of these.

I have the Painless Wiring fuel pump relay kit.

Good point. I have a few different multi meter leads from years of trial and error. If you cant buy it off the shelf, make it.
