EMP Stewart Thermostat

YES YOUR CORRECT THEY FINAL GOT WISE AND FACTORY DRILLED THE AIR RELEASE HOLES at the factory, you can just drop that in and go from there, with that style t-stat.....now if you want too, you can use a cutting disc and notch the outer flange in a few locations so theres a couple 1/8" wide notches in the perimeter lip but its generally wasted effort as those t-stats work well most of the time right out of the box

Is this what you had in mind....cutting about 4(???) slots in the perimeter
of the thermostat???

its sure not required but yeah!
thats what Ive done.. on those style Ive installed and it seems to work just fine, it takes about 5-7 minutes with this tool to do the job, try to leave the bottom of the notch a fairly smooth and rounded (U) sharp corners, cause fractures on parts occasionally,. and try to keep it fairly cool during the process it can get damaged if heated over about 260F
