have you ever noticed that theres a few people youll meet, at any car club, car show or web site ,who will ask for as many peoples advice,as they can, hoping to find some one who agrees with them, even if they are doing the damnedest thing you ever saw done.
theres always some small percentage of guys who have no intention of learning anything from the posted answers or taking that advice from, other more experienced members of any club, or group, even if they get told by several knowledgeable and experienced sources that the correct way to do some thing or the best parts are, etc. if that advice does not match their current build,or way of doing something.
its as if they are looking for vindication that they are correct and anyone who dares suggest that they might make some change, in the way they are doing some thing or the parts they already own, is obviously a $%^&* moron at BEST!
I can,t help but ask myself at times ,after reading the question and answers in several threads what some of the posters are thinking, why would you or anyone not think, hey somethings wrong, so if you , or anyone else were told by several posters that the correct answer to fix an issue or problem, may include the fact that the part or procedure that you previously described, might be a large contributing factor to causing the problem to begin with that you would not at least stop and consider their response and at least consider the fact that they might just know what they are talking about!
I recently read a thread on a different site where a guy installed a new performance cam with a great deal more lift and duration, than a stock cam, in what was basically a stock engine, and then tried to start the engine, the result was a bunch of badly bent push rods
now it takes hundreds of ft lbs of force to bend even a small block push rod and in about 90% OF THE CASES BENDING A PUSH ROD INDICATES A CLEARANCE ISSUE, EITHER IN THE VALVE TRAIN , like coil bind, rocker to rocker stud, clearance, ,or the wrong guide plate to rocker alignment, OR PISTON TO VALVE CLEARANCE ISSUES ETC.
yet I was absolutely dumbfounded that after three pages of guys responding with suggestions to verify valve train clearances and push rod geometry and check how the cam was degreed in, or questions about how he had adjusted the valves, the original poster asking the questions, only response, after either reading and ignoring the answers or just skipping the answers or questions, that had been posted, in response to his question. he had , had posted in response to the original post asking him for a few tests and verification, of clearances, and even quick visual checks to be done, was to ask where he could purchase stronger chrome moly steel push rods that would not bend as easily, when something did bind up, or if loosening the rockers several turns, might help him avoid the necessity of swapping components.
after reading the thread for several pages I never bothered to post, I just shook my head and was amazed that three pages of various valid answers were ignored, and the original poster acted as if everyone answering was a blithering idiot for not instantly recognizing the problem was the push rods being used were defective.
look none of us knows everything, but if 20 plus people suggest your doing something the wrong way you might want to stop and think about the remote possibility they might know something your over looking

Grumpy is describing the Original Corvette Forum perhaps.
That place is a mess still last time I took a peak.
Didn't find my friends Steve, Ron or Dave so I left.
Back on Digital Corvette & Grumpys here.

im basically only on here and on the turbo forum. and the turbo forum i dont even post anymore because it seems everyone on there is a subject matter expert and yet none of them agree but they can never be wrong. so i just dont post because i dont want to teach people who dont want to learn.

I feel it is the main reason I am here cause I want to learn advise here is backed by facts not opinions. Grumpy the way you teach and explain is good because you back up what you say and explain how you came to the conclusions you made. I found your site through looking for information and answers to questions that had more then just this won't work or this is what you need. I feel if this hobby needs more people to learn before they throw money at things not vise versa. I used to be a regular at the pro-touring forum but the over flow of people with more money than brains along with sponsorship overflow pushed me away. 10,000 dollars just in wheels some of the builds are fun to watch but they are unrealistic for my budget and most people I know. I see allot of questions go unanswered for the person who would probably listen and the ignorant know it alls have there problems all the same. There will always be the person who hopes that someone will say there right and there will always be the people that won't listen to reason. I just hope to stay on the side that is willing to listen to experiance and reason especially when it is backed by proven fact.

I've been here for over 4 years and now and have supported the forum for
couple of years on a monthly basis. I think that about covers it !!!

My Gig has been building street & drag race solid axles for near forever Grumpy.
None this year so far to build.
All are broke.
Every forum.
Have just enough for Pontiac Power again.

Hellcat cleaning house next year will jumpstart real streetrace & drag race again hopefully.
IRS in Vettes will definate be hopeless.
