Would a bad O2 sensor on bank one cause a motor to sound louder than normal, run rough and poor acceleration?
Since I started bringing the Prius back from the dead just the gas motor runs, electric motor never kicks in. The gas motor sounds like an old Kawasaki 250 and is a snail climbing to 35 after reaching operating temperature. Also, I might of only swapped out 3 or 4 gallons of good gas for old - could that not be enough for a 9 gallon tank?

Use your Autel OB2 Scanner . See what codes you have.

I did, that’s how I know it’s a bad O2 sensor! I’m just wondering if this is the cause of poor running conditions.

I’ll have to get one of those ring removing tools and pull the fuel pump out the top of the tank. That will give plenty of space to remove the old fuel

There are hundreds of these ring removers for sale. Here’s on of them. Do you know of any better tools?740BDBA9-F641-40E9-931E-0686863A8C03.png

A Pry bar and a hammer might loosen the lock ring.
Buy the tool if you want to and need it.
Money spends fast today when your repairing several cars.
$2000 spent before you know it on todays vehicles and high parts prices.

The spark plugs are probably fouled out from the 3 year old bad gasoline replace them.
Use an entire quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas tank after cleaning.
1 bottle of Royal Purple Max Atomizer Fuel injector cleaner.
Also buy that Star Bright Startron fuel system additive its Awesome stuff made in Florida where Grumpy is.
I use all 3 chemicals in my own.

I hope that does it. I had a Wrangler that had a ring collar on the gas tank. Sure a pry bar and mallet will get it off but it just had just about 2 threads around and tough as hell to get back on. That tool only cost me $17

Use some oil , Sly-gllde bought from Napa Auto, or wheel bearing grease on the tank lock ring threads. Fighting friction without any lube.
Sly-gllde you can turn the lock ring then with 2 fingers.

Job Interview went good till he told me what he is paying $19 per hour.
They want me to overhaul Semi Diesel truck engines complete truck rebuilds also.
I was anxious to leave.
Said think it over
I did no.
$25 an hour at least.
Joliet Chicago advertising $40-95 per hour now.
Got a few places to call back now.

Just plug away get it done Richard.

That guy working on the Prius fuel pump has impressive hand tools! :p That screwdriver is is multi tool! Those Colombian shops put out a load of videos for repairs seldom seen. For a crime infested city (Bogota) they certainly have a great deal of crazy restoration shops. I was there in 2008 trying to buy a ‘63 Porsche with my brother in law. What we got instead was a Meyers Manx dune buggy? He paid $16,000, $1700 shipping charges, $1300 customs fees and $1000 for me. He sold it to an actor in SOCAL for a measly $60 some thousand bucks then he was busted by the IRS the following week.

I just got that fuel tank ring removing tool, go out to use it. That video shows that cover being removed and fuel sending unit pulled up out of the tank - well it’s not there! Nothing like in the video no ring, just electrical connections no access to the tank! I bought that tool to scratch my butt I guess!

I would use a Sharpie marker make an outline where to cut.
Then use an air metal nibble or A good pair of Aviation tin snips make your own access panel.
Cut 3 sides so you can fold the metal up.

To do that I would have to drop the tank because only the bottom of the tank is exposed. If I drop the tank I might as well do another way to get access

The video shows where the Fuel pump is below the drivers rear side seat cushion.
If you caut your own access panel save yourself at least 2 hours time Fighting Rusty tank strap bolts.
Most likely snap off.
