I've been trying to do some research on fire suppression systems designed for race cars.

Looking for some recommendations from others as to what they went with.

Suppression agent used
Tank size
Nozzle count
Nozzle location

the race track rules on most tracks specify the cut-off switch MUST be located close to the battery, on the positive lead .because in an accident, its very likely that the insulation on the positive battery will be damaged causing a major fire hazard if it shorts to the car body , cut or short out the negative leads and either nothing works or theres no dangerous effects, that's not true in all cases with a short to ground on a positive batter lead, thats why most tracks say you need to place the switch on the rear near the battery

It's a good idea.
It's not used in today's Pro Mod Street Outlaws style drag cars that I know of.

Seem to recall Pro Stock Guys using Halon Gas Fire extinguisher systems.

The Really high speed Road Race Silver State Classic Race Cars are required to have Halon Gas Fire extinguisher systems in The Drivers Cockpit.

Have to do research myself.
Get back to You.

Back in the day the local car organizers made all us Drag Racers wanting to show our Street Drag cars to have a Fire Extinguisher inside the car.
Had one in my 70 TA.

I used to have a fire extinguisher in all my summer fun cars. My bracket race truck runs quick enough that my concern is if I caught fire it's going to take time to get it stopped... then me get out of it without getting burned.

I started really thinking about it after my recent mods which included running a front mount fuel cell and belt driven fuel pump for my alcohol injection system. I have the required triple layer fire gear, but if you actually read up about it and the protection it gives.. 10 seconds before second degree burns can happen. Trapping in the 145-147 mph range takes a lot longer than 10 seconds to come to a stop... not to mention getting out.

It's like a Halo Spray Bar system that surrounds the Driver and passenger.
Silver State you have a Navigator Co Pilot.
90 mile race at speeds 224-260 mph.

Thanks guys.

I too noticed that Halon is gone. I think I'm going to go with one of the DuPont FE-36 systems.
I think that limiting my chances of getting burned,
is worth the less than $1000.00 a system will cost.
Just missing 2 or 3 days of work you would lose more money than that.

yeah! Im always amazed at the number of guys that don,t think of the potential consequences,
vs the cost laid out , and select better quality over lower price,
and how spending a bit more on better quality, has advantages, in many
tools, or materials or safer working conditions, might prevent MAJOR injury
example, jack stands , floor jacks, fire extinguishers, exhaust fans, lighting in the shop,
car lifts , mechanics creepers, ratchet wrenches, and a few hundred other times when,
the less expensive options are far more likely to result in injury

NOWS A GOOD TIME TO REMEMBER THESE EXTINGUISHER'S ONLY HAVE A LIMITED LIFE SPAN ..... CHECK THEM...SERVICE THEM....YOU NEVER KNOW...
WHEN SOMETHING TRAGIC COULD HAPPEN WITHOUT ONE..
THAT WORKS LIKE IT SHOULD....WOULD BE DEVASTATING,
AND YES THE CO2 STYLE ARE IDEAL.

Yes its important Grumpy Safety.
Better off doing it right the 1st time even though you will not make startup of 2019 Drag race season.
Have to plan & spend money to build the car safe.
