Ive got a question for those of you that have ordered cranks, and rotating assembly's?
?? did they ship that crank unprotected from dirt, impact damage and moisture, during shipping.. like that picture suggests, that I found posted on a different web site??
(If it did Id be rather inclined to send it back!)
the last performance 4340 steel, crank I ordered was a forged 4340 stroker crank from SCAT, I ordered from DOUG HERBERT ,for a friends engine build, it came outer wrapped in bubble wrap, inside a box around a sealed heavy plastic bag, with well oiled paper taped loosely over each journal in a double layer card board box, and wooden blocks holding the crank in place inside the box,and a separate box held pistons, rings and connecting rods all packed separately, now that might be an exception that only happens with the better forged rotating assembly, and because most of the guys I build engines for order parts that get shipped to their homes rather than directly to me I,m just curious what you received, and how it was packed, because understandably most guys unpack a crank and look at it before they bring it over here, but even then I see most use at least a heavy wall plastic bag around a crank and obviously a heavy box with either synthetic peanuts or at least the crank encased in the sealed plastic bag and some wood blocks for bracing and end cap protection
