From 144 to D1-SC

Regardless of what the A/F would say on the wide band... with each run the tail pipes would STINK rich...

some times indicating a retarding ignition timing allowing some of the yet unburnt fuel to be scavenged out the exhaust, past /trapped in the header primairy when the exhaust valve closes to remain un burnt until ignited by the next exhaust pulse where it won,t burn completely due to lack of oxygen or an exhaust header design, matched to cam timing that's scavenging some of the new charge thru the cylinder and sucking into the exhaust before the valves close as the high pressure intake charge fills the cylinders (nothing wrong as it tends to clear the old exhaust effectively but the MILEAGE might suffer)

Are you saying that my all in can come in later... Say at 2800?

Another thing I'll say about this combination: it is FUN. Very streetable. Decent idle. Quiet cruise. Good throttle response and POW! What more could one want. I really like this combination.

well? updates?
how are you progressing?,
have you got the traction issues resolved?
have you got a full 9-10 PSI of boost running yet?
ANY COOLING OR FUEL SUPPLY ISSUES?

Greetz All,

FINALLY, I got the power steering pump to work and am AMAZED by how fun this car is to drive.

I'll take some pics of what I fabricated. A GM Type 2 pump. Zoops brackets. A pulley ground flat and a remote reservoir from an RV.

I finished and briefly tested the fabircation on Saturday and took it for a rally race on Sunday. The Chevelle had no problems running down MGs and Austins Healeys even on thos windy little roads.

Fantastic!

Also mashed the gas at 50 MPH in second. I was trying to overtake an obnoxious accelerating Honda something-something TypeS. Nearly wet my pants. The car started bucking wildly as tires spun, rear slipped and motor popped and screamed as it hit the rev limiter. It was all I could to to avoid rear-ending the Honda. Finally the tires caught and whooooofffffffff........ Honda was watching shrinking tail lights and spewing CO2.

Brackets need a little more fabrication to fit a full 10 rib belt... then more testing to see if I get 10 PSI with a full belt.

Then I may lean out the mixture...

I'll need to follow up with you on the traction/launch issue.

The rally made me understand that all the work I put into the suspension (polyurethane, boxing, TransAm steering box, coils...) make for a very good road handling car.

Now if I can only get both:

good lanuches propelling into the 10 seconds and good handling.

Beyond any doubt this is nearly EXACTLY where I want the car: DAMN fun to drive!

Considering 325/50R15 ET Street from M/T...

This is my dyno with AFR 210 and 144.

CORRECTION the RED line below was a dodge viper dynoed a couple of days prior. I am the blue.

My converter stalls at 2500

HOWEVER...

This is SAME combination at 7 PSI with a Procharger centrifugal supercharger. Nothing else changed. Everything is under hood.

And there's the Viper again

like I told you, its a TOTALLY different world with that centrifugal supercharger rather than the semi-toy you used to run, that was hopeless, trying to keep up with the potential airflow demand of that engine, once you used the larger heads and the slightly longer duration cam, the old 144 style roots supercharger was no longer up to the task of filling the cylinders much past 4000rpm, while the newer supercharger should have zero problems at 7000rpm (well above where your current cam can keep up)

any progress on the shredded transmission that resulted from all that increased power???

(yeah , most of us have gone that route a few times)

Still waiting on parts: billet planet and a billet direct drum + custom input shaft.

waiting on parts is always a P.I.T.A.
GETTING THE WRONG PARTS OCCASIONALLY, is even a bigger P.I.T.A.,
just like being too BROKE to order and pay for what you would really like to order,
especially when you know that your not taking the best route,
due to the limited budget most of us work on almost all of the time.
if cost was no real object like if you were JAY LENO, OR BILL GATES Im sure all our cars would look differently

WELL????
any progress on the transmission or car?
have you done any changes?
replaced the busted transmission yet?
any pictures of the busted or replacement transmission?
any suspension changes in the works?
