496 BBC Going to sell hat to pan and from pump to fly wheel complete ready to run. We got it started today and it sounds killer.. has lunati crank shaft. Manly rods. BB2 big Brodie Brodex heads Jessel shaft rockers ran 4.70 he said in the car.. going to ask 12,5 k for the whole thing. I have video of it running but if really interested I still have it in the car. Previous owner said it has about 20 passes on the whole motor.. killer motor just need bigger for what I need to do.. I believe the motor will run better than that with a good tune in it...

It’s blown injected alcohol. Runs 4.70 1/8 mile in a ‘68 Vett funny car. Has 9 passes. Think it’s a linco trans. A friend needs more motor to run 4.20’s in the series he runs in.

Not alot of traffic here for guys looking for parts John.
Closed Racing Facebook Groups on F.B. is a good place to advertise.
Ebay with a Buy it Now option.
Racing Junk.com.

He knows how and where to sell stuff. He does it for a living. I was putting that up as interest. If I had the money that would go in the long car after replacing the aluminum rods. Just thought it was interesting. Thanks for the advice on selling.

I think I have to strip it of old Paint.
Repaint in VHT Shiny Black Epoxy.
Guys are so picky.

I think it would look best in VHT Black Crinkle Wrinkle paint.
Like Callaway did with their C4 Corvette TT engines. Love that look.

Buy shiny sells.

When I decide to build my bad ass motor would I be money ahead to look at used motors rather than build from scratch? Are the same things that make good race motors overkill for mild street motors? I don’t plan to do high speed driving but I do like sub 2 second 60’ times!!!

the answer depends a great deal on exactly what your intended end result should be!
used race parts are generally far cheaper , usually selling for 40%-70% less than new
(obviously condition, age and scarcity mater)
parts like , used blocks, cranks, billet flywheels , SOME transmissions ,BLOWPROOF bell housings and many cylinder heads, valve covers, headers, and intakes
, and SOME ignitions, SOME CARBS,
are generally a good deal,
if they pass a careful visual inspection,
by someone who knows what to look for!!
Id generally want new pistons, rings, rods, clutches bearings and all the valve train components

Probably a nice used 454 from a Truck or Motor home be a good score.

Tall Deck 427 some like.
496 build Grumpy style.

A used Bracket Race engine.
Some are well taken care of maintained.
Others severe abused.
