I found some interesting information about GM car production throughout the ‘60s and ‘70’s.

My information comes from Wikipedia.

This part is of particular interest to me, other makes and models were made in a similar way.

In Canada, Pontiac full size and Chevrolet full size cars were assembled side by side on the same line, but although Pontiac may Look the same as the American made cars, they are actually a few inches shorter.
Pontiac’s flagship the “Parisienne” (compare to the US made Bonneville) uses Chevy’s X frame for a 119” wheelbase, the US made was 122.”
Molds looked the same but sheet metal parts will not bolt up directly. The 2 product lines share most of the same interiors, the Chevy SS is the same as the 2+2 Parisienne for the upgraded parts. Suspension, exhaust (except for down pipes of the manifolds)
The mid-sized cars all were identical between the US and Canadian models with just the front and rear trim different (yes, old news there).

Nobody sells Mandrel bent exhaust pipes for full size Pontiac, but you can easily find Mandrel bent pipe for Impalas - I’ve been looking for MB 2.5” over the rear axle pipe. I was going to settle for an over the axle pipe from a mid-size car and just add a tail pipe extension. Today I found a half dozen parts I couldn’t otherwise find for the past 3 years.

I have a thought here. With regards to the X frame and the straight side rail frame, Does it matter any for the “over the axle” pipe?
