do yourself a big favor,don,t guess,use data / and info that's very easy for you to get!

IF YOU'VE GOT TO DO RESEARCH (AND WHO DOESN,T ) READ THRU THE LINKS AND SUB LINKS

(1) get in your corvette,find a light weight friend to ride with you and take notes while you drive, he/she will need a stop watch, a note pad and a couple pens, find a long deserted place/road to test on.
cruise around and take notes of the rpms that your car normally runs in on the street, note what rpms the transmission shifts at under light to mid throttle, use.

(2) floor the car, and have the friend watch at what rpm level the car launches at and where the car shifts (rpm and MPH, and SPEED,) and in what gear your in at 30,60,75,and 110mph) and how long you were in each gear!

Now if your driving a almost stock auto transmission, and 2.87-3.07:1 rear gears in your corvette with a 700r4 you'll launch at about 2000rpm and shift at 5200rpm-5700rpm, that rpm range just barely gets into the most effective rpm for that mini ram, or stealth ram, SIMPLY because the drive trains designed to match the TPI intakes performance range, so you'll be better off with that rear gear with a TPI style intake like the FIRST TPI, INTAKE which is a large port version of the TPI, http://www.firstfuelinjection.com/PDRM1966.JPG a super ram is a second decent choice , simply because they are both designed to run more efficiently in the slightly lower rpm ranges.

IF YOUR RUNNING A MANUAL TRANS, you will be able to keep the engine in gear to higher rpm levels but the cam and your valve float redline might still limit you somewhat!
TPI runs out of air about 4000rpm-4400rpm (depends on porting, heads cam,ETC.)
SUPER RAM adds about 700rpm-1200rpm(depends on porting, heads cam,ETC.)

STEALTH RAM with custom plenum and some port work runs best in the 4000rpm-6500rpm range(depends on porting, heads cam,ETC.)

mini ram runs best about 1000rpm higher(depends on porting, heads cam,ETC.)

first find out where your corvette spends all its time!
now Im not SAYING YOU CAN,T USE ANY OF THE AFTERMARKET INTAKES OUT SIDE OF THOSE RPM RANGES, I AM STRONGLY SUGGESTING THAT MATCHING THE CAM TIMING, CYLINDER HEAD FLOW AND THE CORVETTES GEARING AND STALL SPEEDS AND TRANSMISSION SHIFT POINTS TO MATCH THOSE RPM RANGES WILL PRODUCE BY FAR THE BEST RESULTS

KEEP IN MIND THAT if your CARS DRIVE TRAIN,GEARING and HEAD FLOW, COMPRESSION,AND CAM TIMING and EXHAUST SCAVENGING won,t support the designed rpms and flow rates, of the intake that intakes not going to provide nearly the performance boost you may expect.

I bought the wreck for $200, as a source of a doner/project engine.
I might even go the 383 SBC route after reading several links,on this site.
The idea, would be too gain, a bit more power and durability while replacing my current cars engine, as it now has over 137k miles , and smokes a bit
(I assume worn rings or valve guides?)
so Id swap it out after the new replacement engines built!

these links have dozens of related sub-links that cover about every issue youll run into and its a wealth of related info youll need,building a spare engine while you continue to drive the current engine is smart as it tends to vastly reduce down time to only a weekend engine swap once the new engines built.

taking the time to research and accurately plan the build will help reduce mistakes and costs,

youll tend to find anything you need,
