getting the timing set up..

ok, new cam and on the cam sheet, it says -6 deg advanced-. so setting the timing, I also factor that into the timing right?? just using numbers her. so if set at 5 deg on the timing mark that would actually be 11 total? not factoring in the dist part but just talking about the cam side. or am I wrong in thinking this.. I checked a few articles about timing and even adding a new can and setting timing but they just show timing mark but nothing about the cut of the cam .[/img]



cam timing is related to the valve opening vs crank rotation, you lock it in at cam install,
ignition advance or ignition timing is a separate deal its controlling the ignition spark timing vs piston location in the bore and it changes with engine rpm and load, vacuum, in most engines
