Super excited should be delivered today via fed ex. While waiting since my order was placed in November 2020 I had a Maaco paint job applied in January. I taught myself how to color sand and polish/buff and it is now pretty good. When I first got it back it was full of dirt and orange peel city and I was actually pretty mad so I did something about it and now I'm happy with it. I also bought a Black carpet/door panel kit and installed it myself. No pictures of it but it looks great and was totally worth the effort and the interior looks and feels fresh. I included a picture a a local weekly car meet that my friend and his Z06 attended not too long ago. It's funny our cars parked right next to each other I had ten people or more ask and inquire about the 84 and not one person took notice of his Corvette like it wasn't even there. He noticed too and said to me his car may be faster and newer, but it's just not as cool. My speed is coming up faster than he knows..

Where did you order them from?

I know the excitement for new headers, I was planning mine for several years.

I don't know your friend or what the history is, but anyone can buy a nice car, but fewer can build one !!

Nice work !!!

Their here, of course I'm going to grid/cut off those protruding tubes. Other than the air injection tubes the headers look pretty good. I'm going to install a drivers side O2 bung onto the header collector to keep the stock computer happy. I'm going to get a custom y-pipe and rest of the exhaust build. I already have a 3" magna flow cat-converter ready to go and will have a heated wide band o2 sensor installed right after the merge of both banks just before the cat so I have an accurate reading. I've included some pics of the interior because it really does look good and I recommend it to everybody who has a old dingy carpet in their car now. It literally transformed the feeling of the interior.

I ordered them from summit racing.com their a CA Longtube smog legal header

CARB EO Number:

Cheap, no.... but if you want to play you have to pay as I've learned.IMG-3568.jpgIMG-3505.JPGIMG-3568.jpgIMG-3505.JPGIMG-3504.JPGIMG-3567.jpgIMG-3509.JPGIMG-3568.jpgIMG-3505.JPGIMG-3504.JPGIMG-3567.jpg

I guess you are not worried about the coating ? Why did you pick this pair of headers ?

You are right, that does look excellent ! Where did you buy the carpet ?

How will you plug the holes after cutting the tubes off. I was assuming you would be welding the
holes shut and the heat around the hole would hurt the coating.

Hi Indy, I probably wasn't clear, I'm only timing the tubes protruding into the tube. I still need the system functional as I have to pass CA emission test. I just don't see the need for them to stick so far down and potentially hinder flow. I've actually already trimmed them back I'll post pictures later tonight.

Never said my buddys car wasn't better, in fact it is in every measurable way and I would actually love to have one too, maybe instead on my Corvette now even. Its just probably that night I was the only C4 in attendance and their were a plethora of C5-C7's and one C8 even. I'm a fan of all Corvettes and I believe they are all cool some are even better than others like my friends Z06 compared to mine.

IMG-3568.jpg IMG-3569.jpg Indy, this is what I did to the headers heres a before and after. Probably didn't do much for flow but even it helped a little it was worth the time.

it won't make a huge difference, in increasing flow, or resulting power .
but grinding the emission system tube end extensions into the header port, it will reduce the effectiveness of the outside air,
into the emission system, being added as it was designed to introduce the air into the exhaust gas flow into the exhaust manifold/headers, to aid in the combustion of partly burnt fuel
this will very marginally reduce the catalytic converter efficiency, as the stub extending into the exhaust port was placed like that to cause mixture turbulence.
frankly I did the same thing with my headers , so your not alone, but the result may be a marginally higher emission numbers, and yeah, removing the emission air pump and the header emission tube plumbing on the headers is a very popular modification,
yes you can still pass emission testing without that pump and additional
exhaust gas and emission pump, etc. if only your exhaust gas, numbers are checked with a properly tuned engine, but some states require all the O.E.M. parts still be in place regardless of the emission test results
