have you ever considered ordering a cobra replica KIT CAR?

it certainly would not take long to build or to have a fun car,
it would also not take to long to spend in excess of $40K on the project
I have several guys I know who own these AC COBRA kit cars , most of those guys bought them as partly finished projects,
from other guys who got discouraged or were forced to sell the kit cars when they found they were out of cash and the skills required. when they got into financial issues and sold them in various stages of completion well before they were drivable.
one local guy has one with a mild 460 ford engine and automatic drivetrain he swapped from a 1970s era t-bird , and despite the engine not having had much being done previously, to upgrade power from stock other than headers and a better intake manifold it's still a fun to drive street car, due to a reasonable power to weight ratio far exceeding average. the original 360hp, rated engine now puts out a bit under 400 hp, but it was originally in a 4300 lb t-bird, in a 2200 lb kit car it has a decidedly different character.

It would not take a great deal of work to build a seriously more powerful 460 or even a 547 cubic inch ford engine with aftermarket aluminum heads that made in excess of 600 hp, that would make one of these cobra kit cars, if matched to a proper suspension and drive train of your choice, a very impressive hot rod!, personally Id like a full manual control auto trans with over drive top gear ratio like a 4l80e and a 3200 rpm stall converter on a similar 540-572 cubic inch 12.5:1- compression ratio, race octane only,, Crower EFI CONVERSION, stack injected big block chevy powered version...yeah I know the ford guys would freak out ,
but hell, if I built the car it would have a dana 60 rear and a built 4l80e trans and a 540-572 big block chevy drive train

and they would be insane
yeah any custom kit car requires a great many custom made parts, ESPECIALLY if you don't exactly follow all the manufacturers instructions, if you don't do this it requires accurate measurements' and a great deal of custom parts fabrication this is one reason so many projects fail, there's very few off the shelf parts
obviously having fabrication skills and a decent MIG or TIG welder helps.
and ideally a MILLING MACHINE

Re: have you ever considered ordering a cobra replica KIT CA

i have the media packet for all the factory five cars including the hot rod and the daytona coupe and the gtm etc... i also helped a friend assemble his mkiii roadster he bought several years ago. in its current form it has a 352" ford motor with two turbos, factory fox body mustang computer and efi harness with a piggy back programmer. the suspension and brakes are all new pieces, he got the 3-link setup from factory five and bought all new five lug running gear as he did not want to use a donor car. on kill mode, it puts down over well over 1000 hp and tq on 93 octane. the thing is downright scary to drive and even scarier to ride in

Re: have you ever considered ordering a cobra replica KIT CA

These Cobra Kit Cars Fly on the Ground Grumpy.
I have turned wrenches on one in the past & drove it to 100.
Owner riding shotgun. He told me to get on it hard.
So I did. The 3 Duece Holley Tripower 302 SBF Finally dialed in by me.
Others failed .
Only 4 wheeled vehicle with better power to weight ratio is Ricks T-bucket & Similar.
Like Old Gasser guys built & Raced.

yeah! maybe I.m insane but a cobra kit car without a serious BIG BLOCK ENGINE IN THE CARS A BIT LIKE A BANANA SPLIT WITHOUT ANY ICE CREAM!

heres an impressive ford big block build

After three pulls, the engine made its peak numbers—1,025 horsepower and 836 pounds-foot of torque—and hit those points on virtually every subsequent pull.

or
http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/engine/150 ... get-build/

FIND A LOCAL DONOR TRUCK THAT RUNS , OR HAS OBVIOUS ISSUES NOT RELATED TO THE ENGINE ( RUST ON BODY)OR HAS A BAD TRANSMISSION

your local pick & pull OR you pull it salvage yard, :D:)
yeah Alaska is limited IN THIS REGUARD

probably has a 460 ford for under $700
just look for a donor truck/car that was obviously in decent physical condition:D
(IF THE OWNER KEPT THE TRUCK IN DECENT CONDITION,
HE MOST LIKELY DID MAINTINANCE REGULARLY:D
PRIOR TO HAVING BEEN IN A MAJOR T-BONE OR REAR END IMPACT
Accident (LESS LIKELY THE ENGINES BEEN DAMAGED)
(THUS YOU KNOW IT WAS RUNNING BEFORE IT WAS SCRAPPED):D
ALSO CHECK THE TAIL PIPES FOR SIGNS IT WAS BURNING OIL, OR RUST INTERNALLY
(BLOWN HEAD GASKET)
AND CHECK THE DIP STICK FOR SIGNS OF RUST
TRY TO GET A PACKAGE DEAL WITH ALL ACCESSORYS INCLUDED
(EASY FOR THEM TO PULL THE FRONT CAP TO REMOVE THE ENGINE WITH A TOW TRUCK WRECKER)
THEY MAKE A FEW EXTRA BUCKS BUT YOUR LIKELY TO SAVE A GREAT DEAL OF WORK AND YOU GAIN A GREAT ACCESS TO MANY SMALL PARTS/BRACKETS

MY LOCAL SUPER MARKET HAS A BULLETIN BOARD
IVE PUT UP PICTURES OF A TRUCK I WAS LOOKING FOR WITH TEAR OFF MY PHOME NUMBERS SAYING i WANT TO BY A DAMAGED TRUCK (LISTING INFO LIKE MUST HAVE A 460 FORD ENGINE BODY CONDITION NOT IMPORTANT)

YOU MAY GET LUCKY I KNOW I HAVE HAD THIS WORK WHEN I LOOKED FOR bbc ENGINE IN THE PAST
I HAD A GUY SELL ME A RUNNING MOTOR HOME WITH A BIG BLOCK 454 FOR $350 THAT HAD A KITCHED FIRE
AND i BOUGHT A TRUCK THAT HAD BEEN ROLLED FOR $700

if this gal purchased an original shelby cobra daytona number 7,
minus a transmission for $45 thousand like the video implies
she basically won the LOTTO at that price

once shes replaced the transmission its easily worth several million dollars if it is indeed original

picture below for the few younger guys that might not remember shelbys fastest cobra
