have you seen the absurd price of 357 mag ammo lately???
when and where I grew up one of the most common revolver cartridges was the 357 mag, damn near everyone owned one and most of the guys who were seriously into firearms reloaded, and one of the most commonly reloaded cartridges was the 357 mag, with a 150-165 grain
usually with a ,hard cast bullet design.
back then, you could reload a box of 50 for less than $10-$12
now lately prices on components has gone way up, to like 9 cents each for primers, and good gun powder can easily cost $40 a pound
but theres 7000 grain in a pound and if you figure 10-12 grains per cartridge thats still at least 550 -600 cartridges per pound, or lets say 8 cents each, so if you cast, lube and resize your own bullets, add a gas check, for maybe 5 -7 cents your still at maybe 24 cents a cartridge if you have the used brass, thats well under $12.50 for 50 reloads, and some places are asking $80 for a box of 50 357 mag cartridges... obviously reloading is almost mandatory
