Hellcat Died Grumpy Slayed by a '79 Trans Am

you can barely hear someone say the Pontiac fire-bird went 10.94 and the hellcat was running mid 11 second times!
yeah that trans-am looked darn impressive.
and yes your finding a video of a Pontiac fire-bird trans-am, that obviously has both the power and correct suspension set-up , to launch like that with-out any wasted gymnastics and theatrics , like silly time wasting wheel stands is even more impressive!

got any info on that trans-am engine build config?...turbo?, nitrous? or just well thought through N/A built 428-455-505 Pontiac engine??

Lol.
Grumpy.
I don't understand why you Floridans don't like Wheelstands.
It must just be an Illinois thing.
Ed has a Picture of his Silver 5.0 Fox body doing a Wheelstand in his garage.
Carried the front wheels off the ground for 200 feet. About 2-1/2 -3 feet high.
Still ran low 9's.
We are Men. Republicans. Showing off A Must Do.
Kill those Democrats Lubrals.

No details really.
Guys posted on Max Pontiac .

The Way the Trans Am Runs I would say its a Pontiac 455 bored out to a 462 ci.
Nothing exotic .
No Nitrous. All motor.

Runs & pulls like my 1970-1/2 RAIV T/A.

when I met my wife in college I owned and was driving
1967Firebird.jpg

a formula 400 firebird it looked amazingly similar to this picture I found on the internet, down to the camaro rear spoiler like this picture shows, except I had twin factory hood scoops,
1967fbhood.jpg

and a 4 speed muncie transmission, and Id replaced the broken 400 with a 428 Pontiac out of a late wreck,a cloyes roller timing set, crane solid lifter cam, (the part number was different in 1968 but the specs were similar)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/crn-280921 , I upgraded the cam and added headers and added a edelbrock dual quad intake with dual 500 cfm carter carbs, and lakewood traction bars, mildly ported heads, and a lakewood blow proof bell housing and 35 lb billet flywheel and 3800 lb webber clutch, it had 3.36:1 rear gears, the result was not as fast as I wanted or expected as the car ran mid 12s, but it was quick enough to run faster than 90% of the cars I played with on the street! I replaced it with a 1965 lemans with a 496 BBC engine after a couple years.

Its really about Building a car for $60,000 cash or less to beat a Hellcat.
Buying price.
Doing all your own work.
Build the engine yourself .
Build the Trans yourself .
Build the resr diff yourself .
Drive it and race a Hellcat & Win.

No Pro Built engines.

Excludes near all now.
But not me here.

I like them both!!

Hellcat might only run 11's but will keep om going well past the 1/4
with warranty, good fuel mileage and A/C etc.

I'm personally amazed that Chrysler even builds and sells Hellcats in both 2 and 4 dr versions.

Go Trump!!

Thanks
Randy
