I promised to help someone with a problem and so far I haven't been much help.
The photos below are about the best I can do at this time.

This reverse "shock" receives or attaches to a small round knob at both ends. The new "exact" replacement has a smaller end than the old original (both ends are made of a type of plastic) but the new part has a spring steel clip that snaps around the knob.
I believe this clip is meant to be removed and when the new part is snapped over the knob the steel clip needs to be re inserted for a firm hold.
Or, I could be wrong and the spring steel clip just stays inside and the new part has to be forced down over the knob? My dilemma is no matter which way is chosen the matter of how much force? Will it take a lot of force? Do you use a hammer and tap it down until it fits?
I couldn't think of how to describe this part so that I could find something pictured on the internet.IMG_0661.JPGIMG_0663.JPG IMG_0665.JPGIMG_0666.JPG IMG_0663.JPGIMG_0672.JPG IMG_0671.JPG

The original shock did have a plug on the back that needed to be pulled out first, pushed down on the knob and then pushed down on the cap to secure it to the knob. This maybe the answer to my question. It may have been a change in engineering because it broke so early.

I feel like This should have been explained better, I just can't figure how. It was $130 for 2 of these and I'm concerned left without some good tip theses parts will end up broken or useless.
