Helping A New Guy Get Familiar With And Reasonably Consistent With A Handgun

I spent a bit of time with a local guy I know who is just now getting serious,
about learning how to use a handgun,
he asked me what he should buy ,and I explained,
he should try a couple choices and make his own decisions,
and I brought several of my handguns to a local range,
a S&W 22 revolver, a glock 9mm, a glock 45 acp, a taurus 9mm,
to let him try some options. each of us has things we like or don,t like,
and things we don,t feel comfortable with.
in his case I'm fairly sure he will select a revolver,
as he has had several problems using a semi autos like a GLOCK, taurus OR EAA pistol
we set up targets ar 20 feet or so to start out,
as longer distance would be more difficult for a beginner
btw a tiny dot of high visual neon green nail polish
on you front sight can do wonders for accuracy and it costs less than $12

he had good results using a Smith & Wesson 22lr and 686 357 mag revolver
I loaded with 38 special

he seemed much more effective and comfortable using the revolver:D
while both are very accurate,
I think the simplicity of the revolver made him much less concerned with its safe operation than the semi-auto.
its a bit easier for a new guy to understand how to load and unload a revolver
and he consistently got more centered hits.
this is not uncommon with beginning shooters in my experience.
the 45 acp EAA is extremely consistent and accurate,
but there's zero question he shot better groups with the S&W revolver,
I think it's mostly the revolver has better quality iron sights than the semi-auto handguns
