Been lurking a while and just joined.
Grew up in my parent's truck/auto repair shop from about 8yo to mid 20s.
Decided i hated working on other people's greasy nasty unkept junk. Spent the last 30 or so years only working on my stuff and helping out a few friends with basically minor stuff.
A few months ago i bought a 98 Suburban with a weak 454 that has about 5psi oil pressure when hot idle and other than that it is in excellent rust/dent free.
I bought a gen vi 454 core engine complete from flex plate to PS pump for $300 to rebuild.
I'm pretty excited about it and i think i have discovered that i have missed doing this type of work for a long time.
