  1. IR refers to INDIVIDUAL RUNNER ,
almost all tunnel rams are single plane intake designs with a small common plenum or two common plenums

BTW just some info
the reason that tunnel ram intake was designed like that was that back when the holley dominator carburetors first came out , it was felt that a tunnel ram that allowed the carb to be bolted to the intake so that each carb throttle body venturie should feed each individual runner separately, that's why the lower intake plenum bolt spacing, matches the dominator bolt mount spacing, this in theory provides an individual runner intakes tunning advantages but the holley dominator throttle bore diameter is not large enough in cross sectional area to provide adequate flow rates for much over a 383 engine displacement in that config so a spacer plenum was quickly added to allow multiple throttle bores to supply each intake runner port entrance.
obviously the dominator carb model with the individually adjustable 4 corner idle screws was required, and theres 750 cfm,1050 cfm , 1150 cfm and 1250 cfm versions of the dominator carbs, and a direct 1:1 secondary throttle blade linkage kit that made each throttle open simultaneously was required

obviously if the intakes set up for use as a single runner intake tuning the cam timing, exhaust scavenging and displacement to the engines compression and gearing and throttle bore size is critical to making it function effectively in the intended rpm range

yes there have been numerous attempts to use dominator carbs on IR intake designs
none have yet proven really successful as most designed intake and carb combos,
provide excellent torque but tend to lack enough air flow for impressive peak rpm
OFFY AND WEIAND both sold IR tunnel ram intake designs but BOTH also sold bolt on common plenums to increase the intakes upper rpm flow and power potential.

It looks like it has a TPS Also for Data logging.
And use for Tripping time delay boxes and for Nitrous controllers.

Any experience with the New Generation Holley Dominator 4500 Carburetors Grumpy ?
Aftermarket I have seen custom Dominators flowing 1600-3000 cfm !

I was told by Mark at BLP They are not ideal for the Street.
Poor Transient throttle response stop and go style duties where a Good 4150 Double Pumper such as BLP works like EFI except for cold start ups no choke Mechanism.
Mark said he could build me a Huge CFM 4150 modern BLP 2021 BLX Series I believe for the Pontiac 455 , found online Catalog listing 4150 by them to 1600 cfm 4 butterflies, believe 850 cfm baseplate used all Billet.

Dominator means Pure Racing Business to Win at all costs.

Watching 1st Nelson Racing video now, man they are lugging that Race engine down low, not a Pontiac V8, hard on BBC Piston skirts lugging it.

Fuel atomization rate ability of the Annular boosters in the 4500.
I noted same on my 4150 AB equipped, little weak at 1500 rpms steady off the idle circuit and transition slots onto main Boosters Full.

I watched all 3 videos you posted from July Grumpy.
Good for 1000-1400 hp depending upon layouts used.
No Aftermarket one off custom.

you do understand you can include several related thoughts in one post,
and you don't require a separate post for each idea that you have... don, you?

btw I've never had any use for a dominator over 1250 cfm,
once I get to any engine size that requires more cfm,
and only if restricted to carbs,
I generally go to a tunnel ram and dual quads, and two dominators on a tunnel ram

but vastly prefer a decent stack injection system
BBC_Lucas_Timed_Injection-1024x897.jpg

but if given a choice and wanting the old school look, on a street driven car
dual throttle body injections an option, Id look into seriously
but for serious power I had excellent results with stack injection from kinsler

Kinsler is the Best I know today for Stack IR Injection.
Sold on them.
I prefer Old School all Mechanical.
I want to work at hard Tuning by hand.
True Love Affair begins.
Also no electronics to ever fail.
Have a mechanical issue on the road better chance of repairing on the spot.
Found a Vintage Hilborn for a Pontiac V8, was one of Mickey Thompsons personal own with the Vertex Magneto special Hilborn pump drive built into the base.
Rarer than Hens Teeth.
Also SBC & BBC.
Crower BBC Show up time to time exactly as you had.
Man I want bad too.
Just to have bolt on and use.
Tinker and enjoy.

Younger guys need EFI all they know, used to the graph fuel maps and Ignition fuel maps.
We do in our minds us with 100% Mechanical no electronics.

Was watching the videos right here.
Didn't open another window.
Dud save them to my Favorite You Tibe videos.

When you over cfm Top fuel induction system it has advantages, straightened out air flow stream into the Venturies and butterflies air valves.
Can loose slot of Booster signal in Carburators though though till rpms pickup.
Or get it near all with a help of a Pro built 1 off custom.
