how accurate does your elk and deer rifle need to be?

Ive had exceptionally accurate
brownings
weatherby
and
ruger rifles
by exceptionally accurate I mean many, even most 3 shot groups from each at 100 yards off the bench under 1/2" and rarely over 3/4" with a handload I found that works in that particular rifle.
many of the rifles to day are able to produce 3 shot 100 yard groups under 1.5" but its a rare rifle in my experience that shoots 1/2" three shot groups, most shooters can,t shoot those type of groups so don,t think its always the rifles fault, if your not shooting tight groups
one browning I have consistently shoots three shots touching if I do my part, yet I can hand that rifle to one friend and try as he might 3" groups are the best HE can produce, and its him.
yeah! accuracy off the bench rest can be impressive, but any rifle that can consistently produce 1.5" 100 yard groups is more than accurate enough to kill all the big game Ill ever shoot at so I don,t get a bit upset once I find a consistent load that shoots under that, but at times you just find an exceptional combo.
if you read much on this site you know I tend to hunt with my
340wby,
35 whelen,
358 BLR
375 H&H sako
and 450 marlin
most of the time, these are NOT my most accurate rifles but all will produce 3 shot 100 yard groups under 1.5" at 100 yards off the bench, and all are consistent, in the field your a great shot if you can produce a 3" 3 shot hundred yard group from field positions, and while having an accurate rifle helps worrying about if your getting a 3/4" or 1" or 1.5" group is a waste of time, no elk or deer will ever know the difference and neither will you even at 500 yards as if you can place your shots in a 7"-8" circle youll consistently drop big game if you know game anatomy and trajectory's
I sight all my big game rifles in so you aim at the yellow dot and the bullet impacts cover the red dot

anytime you feel youve become a great shot, try to place two rapid shots in a 2" dot from a rapidly acquired field position, after walking the 100 yards back to your shooting location from the target after a brisk walk in under 10 seconds, from 100 yards
Ive done it occasionally tried it hundreds of times, it takes constant repetition to do well.
