how long do you think it would take to pull both heads on a 1987 TPI corvette?
well tomorrow , if A GUY SHOWS UP, TOO WORK ON HIS CAR ,
Ill jump into the project to help him out and using just common manual hand tools,
Ill basically do that job on a guys car,
just to see how difficult and time intensive it is to do the job.
now granted the TPI intake and the cramped engine compartment ,
and limited access to the accessories,
will slow down the process a good deal compared to many cars,
but I don,t see this whole deal exceeding 3-3.5 hours even without air tools,
(keep in mind thats assuming the normal bunch of seized rusted and broken exhaust bolts ,
and dealing with one guy who is not familiar with the process,)
and yes you can expect a couple rusted bolts and other common P.I.T.A. things,
we all encounter,in these projects, too slow down any project on a car thats 30 years old.
and dealing with the injector harness,
, removing the distributor
,ignition wires
exhaust manifolds,
fuel lines,
, sensor wiring,
alternator,
air conditioner,brackets
power steering brackets,
and ignition components
most of the bolts are #40 torqx or 9/16 hex

I'm guessing you will have the .....

- label maker charged and ready to go!
- Oh yes the camera should be charged and ready also.
- Any battery operated tools charged.

Why are you pulling the heads, what's wrong?

engines has a blown head gasket on one head and,
totally stripped spark plug threads on the other head,
plus the engine sat for an undetermined time
(at least several weeks)
with water/coolant mixed in the oil.

8-12 hours no air tools used & guys not used to non stop wrenching & never worked doing GM Flat Rate.
Then fasteners will be severe corroded stuck seized up.

thats most likely true, enough.
but its WINTER HERE, and the temps dropped into the high 50F range,
so I don,t think we will be drinking any huge cooler of beer

one of the major reasons I built my home near the south east area of Florida,
near,lake Okeechobee in mid Florida,
temps today in the higher 50f range and its predicted to be in the low 60s tomorrow,
if your into working on your cars,
and spending time out in the garage, a tee shirt and flannel shirt,
,rather than having to wear heavy clothing just to go out to the shop

It's the Only safe place from Hurricanes in Florida come September every year.

Every other is potential post Nucleaur fallout zone.

btw the guy never showed up to work on his car, so I pulled it down,
working alone,...all I have left is pulling the exhaust manifolds and head bolts,
so far time= 2hrs-30 min , another 30 min should easily complete the tear down process
it would have easily been less time,
if my 71 year old, lower back and knee joints,
were not so opposed too the positions I need to get into

Push it out the door and see how long it takes him to show up.
