how many guys have friends or family that takes your, automotive repair and diagnostic skills for granted?
yeah it 's rant time!
think things through guys ,think about either asking others for help or helping some less experienced guys learn the required skills, you don,t want to impose on others or be a burden on others, and you don,t want to be taken advantage of either,
if you ask someone too help you, it by my definition means your doing some or most of the labor and need help and experience to get the project done correctly and will be there during all the work, and are expected to pay for all the supplies parts and required machine shop work, in a consistent and timely manor!
Honestly,Ive found this is all too common!

I've for decades done hundreds of auto related repairs and diagnostic work to help guys out, simply because I tend too feel rather sorry for a great many guys, knowing they lack the skills, experience and in almost all cases the tools and a place to work on their cars.
I frequently get asked to help out some guy who's car has stopped functioning correctly, sometimes its just help diagnosing the problem, sometimes I get more deeply involved, and may help with the repair work .
Id much generally rather work on cars in my shop than on a car in some guy driveway or car port,
where I seldom have access to what I consider even basic mechanic tools. its rather frustrating, to start work, when simple tools like a multi-meter or even a selection of wrenches extensions and sockets may be non-existent or severely limited, and what really tends to piss me off is if the cars owner thinks that he can start a project, then become very un-involved and effectively drop it into my hands , or expect me to run parts chaser trips for his parts, too drop or or pick up or repair parts he may have supplied or take, or retrieve his parts to the local machine shop if thats required.

now I really rather enjoy helping guys that are willing to learn, and guys that can,t wait to get a project completed! I've rarely charged more than lunch or a case of soda or beer , too get a project done if its something that can be completed in a day's time,
like replacing a defective fuel pump, water pump or tracking down trouble codes,
and defective sensors or a tune-up p or brake job, or a cam swap.
but I think Im about to stop being helpful, as several people lately seem to be under the impression that once a projects started they can effectively walk away , and maybe call in a few days too check on the progess..

Time to time Yes.
Last was with Eddie.
Rather not go there today.
He is insane.

Best to do your own thing.
In time they will Remember You.

Ass-Gas or grass,or better yet, MONEY as nobody gets a free ride especially if it's at their house, and if at mine/yours , hold it till they pay up. They should all know of your personal situation and not take advantage of you. JMTCW FWIW I know you try/want to help out, but it comes at a price for you mainly. Don't work for free has been my motto for along time as it cost me to learn it. My brothers always told me to think smarter, don't work harder, information is worth a million dollars---to some it cost more than that if they try it themselves.

I know it's nice to help sometimes, but I've found that it is better to never open that flood gate in the first place.
People take advantage and think nothing of it.
