how many people prefer revolvers vs semi-auto pistols

I have found a great many people prefer to carry concealed or at least own a pistol they occasionally carry concealed, or have a handgun in their home or car for defensive use. most of Many of the the women I talk to seem to prefer a small snub nose 3" barrel 38 spcl or 357 mag, as the revolver is, in experience of many of the women I've talked with, in their opinion in most cases its got some major advantages, among those are that a revolver is easy to load, unload and there's no slide to pull back or magazine too lose.
this is hardly news to many men either, about half the guys I know that carry prefer a 357 mag revolver with a 3"-5" barrel as the favored concealed carry option.
the object of carrying concealed is, to allow you ,access to the required tools,
and the effective option to effectively defend yourself if the need arises

now this is hardly news and most people I know that carry a small handgun as a concealed carry weapon don,t practice with it at the range nearly often enough to be effective if under high stress and if your going too as a woman carry that handgun in your purse you have to remember that in most cases street slime , type criminals will try hard too effectively disarm you, and steal that handgun, even if they have no idea your potentially armed, by knocking you down or threatening you,and grabbing your purse.
or they will try to grab your purse and run with it,
giving you no easy access to that handgun,
and worse, if they succeed, arming them for future crimes,
if they succeed in ripping off your purse

if your going to carry ,

If I was going to select a snubbie revolver a 480 ruger that weights 44 oz and thats 2 3/4 lbs would be my choice but ONLY if I could use carefully selected hand-loaded ammo.
most people that carry a revolver do so because they value a high quality well maintained, revolvers slightly more dependable reliability over the best semi-auto, and are fully aware that they must deal with less conceal-ability and more weight and far lower cartridge capacity.
the ability to push a 48 caliber bullet of about 300 grains at about 1000 fps makes this a very effective snubbie revolver, but Id be remiss if I did not point out a semi auto like a 45 acp, or 10mm glock or EAA pistol are better choices.
similar Ruger revolvers are available in 44 mag, and 454 cassul caliber,
as well as the 480 ruger which I personally would have selected.
(currently out of production so you may want a 454 cassul with mild ammo)

you want it on you out of sight,
where its not easy for others to spot or to take off you,
but easy for you to access if required,

think the likely mechanical process of accessing that hand gun through carefully.
personally I've found a 10 mm works on deer and hogs, one shot kills are common.
but the 44 mag works noticeably better,(quicker kills)
(and I consistently shoot tighter groups)

yes I'M WELL AWARE THAT MOST PEOPLE CAN,T HIT CRAP WITH A 44 MAG REVOLVER!
(Ive used 44 mag revolvers for 5 decades,
but all of them , Ive owned have 8.375" -10" barrels,
making concealed carry a challenge)
keep in mind these were selected for hunting,
where the need of making a 120 yard shot was a strong
possibility,
while the need for making anything over 30 yard shots,
with a defensive handgun would be rather rare in my opinion.

one reason the 9mm para, and 38 spc are so popular is that recoil is negligible,
and most people with minimal practice can shoot those reasonably accurately and consistently.
personally I don,t subscribe to the concept of smothering the target with a hail storm of bullets,
Id rather have , made a choice of a limited shot capacity and considerably more power.
but I do realize most people think a larger magazine capacity of a semi auto like a glock,
with 17 shots is the better defensive option over a 6 shot magnum revolver,
every choice is a personal compromise, and I'm fully aware higher capacity semi-autos are the popular option, and yeah, I carry a glock #20 10 mm most of the time.
for over a decade I carried a 10 shot CZ 45 acp, and would not feel in the least bit compromised if I was required to carry a 10 mm or 45 acp CZ.or 1006/4506 S&W
If I could find a reasonably priced 5" 629 44 mag,
Id carry that, in preference over the glock,
but a 10 mm glock costs about 1/2 of what a 5" 629 44 mag, revolver sells for locally.

the better quality name brand revolvers , that get required cleaning,
and maintenance, periodic carefully applied oiling etc. tend to be more fool mechanically proof,
and don,t require as much mechanical skill to operate

now most confrontations statistically happen at under 7 yards and less than 5 shots are fired,
so statistically a 500 revolver properly loaded looks like one rather large ,
and heavy, bulky and hard to conceal option with a great deal of power potential.
Is there anyone who doubts that somewhere theres some guy packing one of these revolvers for self protection?
I wonder what the law suit will look like if he drops some mugger but the bullet ,
exits the mugger and screams across the street and nails some un-intended person. which its likely to do with full power loads ,

if he uses reduced loads in the 350 grain projectile,
at maybe 900 fps range hes far better armed

decent quality suspenders, and a quality stiff belt with added belt loops that have d-rings or slide clips for the suspenders to clip securely to the stiff belt, solved the issue of how to carry a heavy pistol comfortably for me and had worked for decades
Ive found the inside the waist band
VEDDER comfort tuck holster extremely comfortable
I've used one for a couple years daily to carry a 10mm glock model 20

Here's the breakout of the data: Semi-auto's are the clear preference for all years listed except 1986.

First column is the year.
Second is semi-auto's reported sold that year.
Third column is the number of Revolvers sold that year.
The last column is the Ratio of Semi's sold divided by Revolvers sold.
The last row is the cumulative sales and sales ratio.

While wheel gun guys are ardent supporters, the trend is semi's by a substantial ratio.

I truly believe it's for the amount of rounds you can get off before reloading. I have carried both and sometimes both at the same time, depending where I was going. Wheel gun is usually a backup in an ankle holster. 44 snubby or 357 snubby.

that glock, and other similar semi autos as a concealed carry choice, in lots of calibers, are a popular choice.
what ever you select put some thought into that choice and be sure you practice enough,
that your confident that if your forced to defend your self or family,
that you can rapidly and accurately place those shots where they are needed.
if you can,t you may cause un-intended damage to targets and individuals ,
you never intended to engage.
owning a tool, and being familiar and skilled ,practiced, comfortable in its use are rather different levels of skill.
its unfortunate but the fact is that theres some people that think having reasonably easy access to a handgun is all thats required.
