if your having a hard time locating murphys oil soap grease

this is the same soap base grease in a larger container and cheaper per pound and easier to locate than the smaller container below

the soap paste is similar to peanut butter or axle grease as it comes out of the can, wet a patch with water and rub a bit into both surfaces to get a well greased patch that makes loading a patched ball fairly easy, it works great as a patch lube for round balls in muzzle loaders and as mini ball lube if you place a cotton cosmetic ball

over the powder charge to protect it before ramming the grease covered mini or maxi ball firmly down onto the powder charge

Hey Grumpy not doubting your word at all & I WILL get this & do this but I know about 10 people who hunt with muzzle loaders & none have heard of this a couple have said it makes sense & some say it won't work I think it makes sense to clean while shooting. A funny thing you should have seen the looks I got when I gave my muzzle loader barrel a bath. The girlfrend & daughter gave me a look that was priceless
