put the polished SS Hooker sidepipes on my stock smallblock '69 'vette and now there is a popping noise from the right hand side that is only heard on deceleration. Here's a video to illustrate what I'm talking about:

Listen at about 1:21 for the popping. I haven't adjusted the carb since installing the 'pipes, but it certainly seems to have leaned it out. It used to smell a lot more like gas than it does now and I gained about 3 inHg manifold vacuum from 11 inHg to 14 inHg. I'm currently running the pipes open with no glasspacks or baffles.
Related notes: it's the stock L46 with 11:1 compression. Burns just a bit of oil but not much. I also seem to be losing a little coolant, but I don't know for sure if it's a leak or it's being burned. I had to add about 1/2 gallon after a 450 mile trip last weekend. No sign of coolant in the oil. I did not notice any increase in operating temperature after installing the 'pipes.
